Very sad to see the current state of affairs. The Government and the ASI have failed miserably to protect, restore and further explore our heritage. Lack of willpower has enabled the public to build houses around the ruins which has further closed all doors for exploration. Felt very dissapointed. The moment you see the ruins and the towers you can realise the blunder we humans have done for our selfish gains by not preserving it. Shame on us!
It'would be a very frustrating experience , if you expect a lot and visit this place to quench your wander-lust. The whole area is absolutely commercialized. And, specially the reminiscences of this fort has lost all of her glory due to lack of maintenance. Than a fort, it looks more like a dirty haunted house, now-a-days.
Serene, away from the crowd and isolated, got a lots of historical significance. The government should try to protect and improve the conditionof this place.
Shishupala Gada was an ancient capital of Kalinga along the bank of river Daya. it is an one in only one fort in Bhubaneswar but, there is no improvement here. only the new gate is build ago few year.
This historical place is now occupied by local people and builders. This historical place is a symbol of modern civilisation. Government should again start research in that place, by which we get more information about that
Sisupalgarh is a nationally protected monument. But now it's not looked like protected. Monument condition is very bad and not maintained. Sisupalgarh or Sishupalgarh are a ruined fortification in Bhubaneswar. It is one of the largest and early historic fortifications in India. Sisupalgarh was a nationally protected monument. On the basis of the architectural pattern and artefacts discovered during the early excavations, B.B. Lal concluded that this fort city flourished between 3rd century BC and 4th century AD. It is prior to the Mauryan empire. Sisupalgarh's defences are the highest known of this period in India. The ancient settlement probably was not dense, but rather there was room inside the fortress to graze. The major portion of the land that constitutes the ancient enclosed settlement somehow went from a protected monument into private possession.
Historical place But there is nothing much to view Poor maintenance
