Sir Thomas Munro Statue - Featured Reviews (250)
Statue of Sir Thomas Munro, who served as a governor of Madras presidency from 1820 to 1827 during the British colonial rule. Although most of the statues of the colonial rulers were removed after independence, only the statue of Munro was retained due to his contribution to Madras through his exceptional administration and people friendly approach. Statue is located at the beginning of Anna Salai right at the center of the road. It's well fenced and area around this statue is neatly maintained. However, the statue itself needs little maintenance.
A piece of history of past Chennai. Governor of Madras under British. Huge pedestal and statue overlooking east , Bay of Bengal. This is the starting point of Mount Road Anna Salai. Nice bronze statue.
At the centre of the Army Camp road is this famous historical statue, now forgotten, of Sir Thomas Munro popularly called 'The Stirrupless Majesty'. He was a rare & benevolent British officer favourable to Indians. Wish the statue could be relocated to a better place or maintained in a better way.
The Sir Thomas Munro Statue is a magnificent tribute to a great administrator and a visionary leader. The attention to detail and the level of craftsmanship that has gone into the statue is truly remarkable. It is a fitting memorial to a man who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the people he served. The statue's location in a prominent public space also serves as a reminder of the contributions that Sir Thomas Munro made to his community and to society as a whole.
Gigantic. The very look at him makes you feel a winner, you are self motivated.
Don't know much about him. But he is the architect of today's Madras. A great visionary. Starting point of Mount road. Actually it's Munroe road

Netaji's statue is a better option than keeping some britisher who enslaved us for years. Our slavery mindset needs to change. We have so many proud leaders. Britishers were just treating us so badly and we still have their statutes all over India
