Wonderful place, but needs maintenance work. So many bushes inside compound wall... Entry tickets for adults are 10/- For kids, it's free. Restrooms are available. but no maintenance. You must carry your own water bottle during your visit here. The government should focus on developing this historical place--like, say, some elevated structure that is clearly visible from here, the dowleswaram Barrage.
(Visited in March 2021) - Warning - No proper maintenance, temporarily closed. This place is remotely located, temporarily closed & out of bounds for public. It's in the hands of AP Archeology department now & the maintainance is terrible. This was the official residence of the legendary British Irrigation engineer, Sir Arthur Cotton (c.1803-99 CE)

Sir Arthur Cotton, British Engineer was posted on Godavari Anicut works at Dowlaiswaram of Godavari District as Assistant Engineer. Sri Cotton has experience in irrigation works on Kaveri River on Tanzoer district of Madras State. That is why Cotton was appointed in the Dowlaiswaram Anicut works across River Godavari. Sir Arthur Cotton lived with his family in the construction area of Dowlaiswaram itself so as to monitor the construction activity very closely. Sir Arthur Cotton was assisted by Sri Veenam Veeranna Indian Engineer and both collectively shared the accomplishment of successful completion of the work. Now the house is about 170 years old and the same was reconstructed by the Indian Archeological department to make the memories live in the hearts of Godavari Delta people.
