Sinclairs Retreat Ooty - Resort hotel in Ooty - The Nilgiris, India

Superb Resort.. Very cold and infact slightly higher altitude than Ooty town. Excellent stay, good service.. The rooms can be a little bigger.. The resort should try and be perfect in minor day to day maintenance of the rooms. They can do better. The area, rooms, ambience, food etc..everything was superb. Thank you Sinclairs.. Good job..keep it up..

Not worth the price paid. Location was superb. But rooms are very small. And worse you can hear noises through the walls. Further when we arrived no one greeted us on getting out of car. Our luggage was not attended to and remained at the door. Nobody offered welcome drink. Though it was available on tap in a container. Staff was cortious and service prompt. Food menu was a big disappointment. Considering the room price.Garden was not maintained. It seemed neglected with overgrown grass and no proper trimming of plants. The flower made logo of Hotel shown in pics was nowhere to be seen. Its place was overgrown with weeds. Except location nothing to mention positive about it. Very highly priced for such a place. Overall disappointed

The upside is the food taste that was very good and the service person was very soft and polite. The beauty of the natural landscape and greenery around the hotel was amazing and can be enjoyed from the balcony. But the downside is this hotel is located somewhere interior and the travel route is always filled with enormous crowd.

How can this place even be approved for 3 stars? It's one of the worst place I have stayed in my life as the rooms and entire corridors stinks of garbage and sewage and they actually has the audacity to charge above 65k per room. Upon complaining, the staffs informed us that none of the exhaust fans were working. The reception showed no remorse and the management didn't care less. The bathrooms are mould infested as well with zero air circulation. I hope people actually take the reviews into consideration and shut down this place for robbing customers of their money in the name of a 'retreat'.

Good resort at the top of Oooty. Very friendly staff. You wound enjoy the stay at the top. Needs few renovations. Lifts have some smell and the basement indoor area needs some work. Should have arranged a bon fire at evening time. I got to know that some renovations work started. Overall good.

We had mixed feelings about the place. While the room looked modern, there were upkeep issues. There was Mold in the bathroom ceiling probably because the exhaust fan was not working. Lots of place in building needed repair. Wall papers were peeling off. There was a pungent smell in the room. Food : Food is expensive but good. Breakfast was wonderful. Staff was ok but did not have any personal touch. Access : Always use the highway route via the Tea museum to access the hotel. Roads from the other side are very narrow and horrible. View : As per the front desk, all deluxe rooms are backside facing which has no view. One needs to book more expensive premium rooms to get a valley view.

The location is very difficult to reach, the roads are very bad and there are no lights at all during night time. Deluxe Rooms are very congested with small bathrooms where you can hardly stand. There's no exhaust in the bathroom due to which there's always a bad smell in there and fungus all over the roof because of no air circulation. Food prices are a little high with not many options on the menu, but no other choice because it's a little difficult to go out due to very bad road conditions out from the hotel towards the main market and no proper parking space available anywhere in Ooty. The housekeeping staff and restaurant staff are good but the staff at the reception is a bit cold. They would ask to serve the welcome drink yourself which doesn't show good hospitality. All in all, we found the place not so great to stay. The only good thing is that it's at the top so one would get a beautiful view of the Ooty but you have to compromise on other things as outlined above.

Its not the same what it used to be. Not good food, rooms requires refurbishment and hotel too. Staff is courteous but they shouldn't be charging more than 5 k including tax and suites more than 7-8k. Only for view and distant from city makes this hotel as a choice but rooms and services does not.
