It is a very quiet place with peaceful surroundings and you can find very well maintained gardens with lots of flowers. A lot of chairs are available here, you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. You can use public toilet also. Parking space is available here and you can get drinking water too.

It is a beautiful place in the heart of Lucknow,and a place of great historical importance. It was built by the last Nawab of Oudh, Wajid Ali Shah, after his favourite wife, Sikandar Mahal. It was built as a summer residence with a garden inside. During the rebellion of 1857, the Indian revolutionaries made this place one of their strongholds during the long siege of British Residency of Lucknow. The British troops stormed this place in November 1857 and this place witnessed hand to hand combat and the slaughter of all the 2200 Indian revolutionaries who were holed up in this place during the siege! It is now a protected place. The ambience is blissful.

Sikandar Bagh is a hidden, small monument but extremely crucial from a historical standpoint. During the First War of Independence, a battle was fought here in which 100s of British & 2,000 freedom fighters lost their lives. Uda Devi, a woman warrior, too was shot dead here but not before she killed several British sepoys. The entrance is from a side gate. On the left are the ruins while on the right is an imposing gateway. If you love architecture, you will find the gateway a treat for the eyes. You will find the two - fish symbol here, that can be seen in modern crests. Sikandar Bagh is peaceful, despite the bustling roads outside. The garden is well - maintained. And empty - I spotted about four or five visitors, mostly college sweethearts.

One of the most underrated monuments of Lucknow. It was originally a garden made for liesure activities of Nawabs of Lucknow but what made it a significant part of history was the battle that took place here. The war between the mutineers and Punjab Rifles of British Army. This is the place where the female freedom fighter Uda Devi Paasi got martyrdom. After independence a large chunk of this Bagh was given to NBRI (botanical garden). The most of it is restored but there's a place in the back where you can still find broken walls and holes created by musket and cannon shots. According to a local legend its a haunted place as British officials refused to give bodies of the fallen to their families for cremation and they were left there to decay and to be feasted upon by vultures and jackals. So according to many old residents of the area you can still sometimes hear the clashing of swords and galloping of horses (an urban legend). Currently the area surrounding it is a posh area and it's a landmark and a bus stop for city busses.

Today, it is difficult to believe that Sikandar Bagh, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Lucknow, was the site of a fierce battle between the British and Indian forces. At one point of time, though, it was a cultural center, hosting plays, music, dances and poet competitions throughout the year. Visit it in the morning, and you come across people of all ages enjoying a leisurely walk, playing games or just spending some quiet time. Sikandar Bagh is spread over an area of 120 square yards and was built by Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Oudh, as his summer residence.

Build by the nawab for the memorial of his wife vikander.Beautiful architecture.Need some maintenance otherwise it worth a visit. They have a big garden .700m from fortune hotel.Entranc is free of charge. The place is open from sunrise to sunset .

Sikandarbagh is a short distance from Lucknow station, You can go for a morning walk here, The Nawab of Lucknow built this garden for his wife, It is a room too, Where she used to spend time with her friends, It was forbidden for a man to come, But now that room has been locked and kept in the same, From Lucknow station you can take an auto for Rs 20. The garden is near the National Botanical Garden.
