Shuka Vana - Zoo in Mysuru - Mysuru, India

Did not have time to visit all the attractions in the museum. Just visited the bird park. Entry is free but they charge 200/300 rs for photography. 300 rs for big birds and only one bird is allowed for photography. 200 for little birds and can click pics with as many birds sitting on you. Huge variety of parrot family birds can be seen. One hard copy per ticket free and if you want more 100 rs per copy extra. Can get soft copies for additional payment

3 main places to visit inside is Balaji temple, Anjaneya temple, Sukhavana. Lots of macow and parrot varieties. Few birds repeat what we talk. Mobiles should be switched off for birds health while entering this place. We can take photos having birds in our hand. 300 for a picture with printed hard copy. Must visit place. Parking facility available. It ll take 2 to 3 hrs to complete the visit

Bonsai Garden in Mysore is a serene haven that captivated my senses. The artistry displayed in their collection of bonsai trees is truly remarkable. Shukha Vana is quite a tourist attraction in Mysuru. There are three main attractions here: Shukha Vana (bird rehabilitation centre), the Bonsai Garden and the Vishwam museum and all of these open at 10 am. The Shukha vana is a bird rehabilitation centre but really is just another name for a fancy zoo where birds are caged. The whole place has a netted ceiling. The birds are allowed out of their cages to fly freely in this space once a week on Wednesday and this place would be closed to visitors. Photography isn't allowed inside however they charge 300 rupees for a photograph with a macaw on your hand. There are varieties of Macaws and parrots housed here and many small birds are left free in the trees. There are a few parrots that are capable of speaking simple phrases too! I'm not a fan of commercialising and caging birds but it helps that they're free once a week in limited space. The Bonsai Garden is right next to the Shukha vana and has a 25 rupee entrance fee. Filled with lush green grass, coiled pathways and plenty of Bonsai trees, this place is very peaceful and the greenery is very eye pleasing. They have varieties of Bonsais, a few nearly 100 years old. Definitely worth visiting. Unlike Shukha vana, you may click pictures here. The Vishwam museum is a collection of items of the Guruji, both his own and the ones gifted to him. Has an entrance fee of 60 rupees. There are 3 floors to this enormous museum and it's definitely one of a kind. There's no theme here. You're likely to find anything and everything. To name a few, there are artifacts organized by their countries, scrolls, music instruments, coin collection, philately collection, precious stones and gems etc. Definitely worth a visit if you want to see things you've never seen before. The morning timings are from 10 to 12:30 and if you're quick on your feet, you can visit all the 3 places I mentioned above in this time.

Even though entry is free here, they charge you 200rs per photo with parrots and 300rs with macaws and 150 rs for soft copies. You can witness wide variety of birds. Photography is not allowed inside.

I have visited this place twice both the time it was crowded! Free entry but they charge 200 for photo with small small parrot and for the big parrot they charge 300 (for each parrot)also if you want soft copy of the photo 6 photo will cost you around 150. That how they make profit and you can't click pics from your own camera or phone. Try go ASAP it open that is 10:30 to avoid crowd! Kids will enjoy !! Few parrots talk

Visited on weekday, so the place was not crowded. Here places to see are Shukavana, Bonsai garden, museum, Hanuman & Balaji temple. Shukavana consists of varieties of parrots and Macaw. No entry fee here. Photography strictly prohibited inside. If you pay 200/300Rs, Photographer clicks photos of you with birds. Bonsai garden consists of varieties of plants. Entry fee is 25 Rs per person. There is Hanuman statue inside the same campus where laser show will be done it seems only on the weekends from 7 to 7:30 pm.

One of the best tourist attractions in Mysore. There are three main places here: Shukha Vana (bird rehabilitation centre), the Bonsai Garden and the Vishwam museum. Entry to the Shukha Vana is free of cost. The birds seemed to be well looked after. There are plenty of birds here. You can click photographs with the birds here, for a fee. The bonsai garden is absolutely wonderful. Entry fee is Rs. 30. The garden is well maintained and beautiful. The Vishwam museum is the third location to see here. Good museum, with a large collection of stamps and other historic items. Overall a great place to spend time.
