I am not in a position to write any review about this historical place. Please visit and experience the great work of King Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It's a hill station and my father's native place. If a get chance you can also visit the Pawankhind which is really a Pawan/ Pavitra place by blood of Shri Bajiprabhu Deshpande and his great team of Mavale.

This is a beautiful place to spend some peaceful time in kolhapur. The fort itself has huge area once you enter inside. You get lots of snacking items like misal pav, zunka bhakar and good traditional food as well. You can visit fort using car or bike. Inside the fort one can get a lot of peaceful areas under trees and small water bodies where they can just sit and relax. Also considering the historical significance of the place, its really a "should visit" place if you're in kolhapur

It is spread in large area so it is advisable to visit this place in a private vehicle. Though many parts of the Fort have fallen but one can make out the grandeur of the past by looking at the various places out there! Lots of things for children to have a gala time. This fort has a great history of. Chatrpati Shiavji Maharaj, Bajiprabhu Deshpande. Chatrpati Shiavji Maharaj spent most of his days on Panhala fort rather than other forts and his childhood homes. Panhala fort is a great pride of Kolhapur, Maharashtra. This is located 20 km northwest of Kolhapur having a height of 845 meter. This fort was built by the Shilahara dynasty of Kolhapur in the 12th Century. Now a days you'll find good hotels and restaurants here with good food quality. Must visit with family for at least 1 day stay. Tell you family about the history of this for and spend some good time in good atmosphere.

The Fort is excellent which more tells about the MARATHA history. You can travel with your vehicle on the fort. Go there to Explore history. Don't see it as picnic spot.
