One of the best weekend getaway for Banglorians. A long drive and a relaxing swim in Kaveri River and after a visit to this temple would make your day great. There is lot of sand, which is quite famous in Talakadu, where children can play and relax. There are few other temples you can visit around. A good workout to walk on sand. So totally a good place to spend your day.
One of the most magnificent temples of Talakad is Sri Keerthinarayana temple. It has a wonderful art and architecture. The deity here is Lord Narayana.. The main attraction of this temple is its tall statue of Lord Vishnu inside the temple in standing position..The view of temple beneath the layers of sand is really truly amazing
Welcoming with tulsi kunda at entrance With the huge doors and varanda and with cleanliness is the temple of Keerthiarayana. This is very special for devotees of narayana. The temple is ancient and feel the vibes of peace. The surrounding is very clean to sit and spend time. You have a sand on right side were people sit, roll over, temple is well maintained though will sand everywhere due the surrounding sand while walking.
You will love this temple if you love history and historical places. This temple is amazing and shows rich side of our culture. There are lot of local stories that why this temple is submerged in sand and why it happens. You can search about talakadu in google. I am adding some pics of Vishnu temple with beautiful sorrounding. There are many temples in this area and some of them are thousand years old atleast.
Keerthi Narayana is the last temple of the 5 temples you can visit walking on sand... The thing with this temple is if you want to visit only this temple then there is a road access where vehicle can reach.. but I recommend to see all the temples, it's worth it .. Yes you have to walk on sand for more than a mile but it's a nice experience and seeing god after such a strain is a different pleasure... I personally like this statue of lord, it's amazing .. ** Near to this temple there are washrooms ** Food stalls and water stalls available ** foot wear leave it in Vehicle ** No Covid related checks done ** Good to get kids
One of the main temples in Talakadu. It is Vishnu temple and the deity is tall , very beautiful and attractive. Very ancient and historical temple. Previously the temple was submerged in the sand.It was escavated and renovated.
The statue of kirthi Narayan very nice. It's9 feet tall. It was renovated some years back as the whole temple was submerged in sand. Mysterious natural activity happened some hundreds of year ago and suddenly submerged in sand. There is beautiful kalyani (pond) in front of the temple. Carving are very nice and still archeological department is reconstructing the temple.
