Shri Someshwara Swami Temple - Featured Reviews (1825)
Said to be built 1000 years ago, this was indeed a special place for us to visit while in Mangalore. It is about 30-45 min auto ride. It is closed during 1-5 pm but we did not know this and reached here around 3pm. We were able to walk in and then step down to the beach. Someshwara temple and beach - both such powerful experiences. When we stepped down towards the beach the view is so stunning. Barring very few people at that time it was almost just we and the beach. Spectacular view. Also the shopkeeper outside that sells soft drinks etc was kind enough to keep our luggage for free and watch it. Recommended
The ullal beach is the best of its kind...very calm and best for people who love peace and want to enjoy the raw beauty. The beach is located near the Someshwar temple. The beach is huge and surrounded by the ocean.
If you're looking for a place where you can satisfy yourself with the worship of Lord Shiva, definitely you should visit in the place. Environment is excellent.
Historically it is said to have been built by Kings of Alupa Dynasty in the 10th century A.D. The temple was under the Administrative rule of Kadambas of Banavasi, and Choula Kings of Ullala of the 12th century A.D. The two inscriptions found in the temple says that it was renovated in the 15th century A.D. at the time of Vijayanagara King Immadi Devaraya by Rajaguru Sree Kriyashaktri Devavodeya. Someshwara Somanatha Temple is situated on the banks of Arabian Sea at the Western Ghats of South India 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) away from Mangalore. The temple is known as Rudrapada Kshetra, and is also a pilgrimage centre for performing Pitrakrayas (last rituals of departed soul).
One of the beautiful temple near Mangalore. The temple is situated near to the someshwara beach. The temple has enough parking space for vehicles. The view of the temple and view of beach from the temple is really nice. The temple is calm and quiet.
Serenity is the the word. It was our AOMSI (All India Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons of India) conference. Mangalore is always gonna be a place worth a memory! Disclaimer: i know the comment looks long but it'll be worthy i believe! So this temple we visited in the evening after we spent a while at the nearby beach. To reach and exit this place we had a tumoil (idk maybe cuz of all the bus travel and routes were so tricky for us). The temple has so many stairs to climb up and that was the fun part. Temple pujaris you call them right? They were very polite. They welcomed us & we had a good darshan. The inner peace that you get after the visit is splendid. You all ever visit Mangalore_ do visit this temple. You can visit the beach nearby as well get good blessings! Nature is Awesome! (My heart is filled with joy as i write this to you) Don't miss the video taken inside the temple.
There are many beautiful beaches in Karnataka along its 320km coastline. One such is Someshwara beach in Mangalore, which is an immaculate and famous for sunset natural scenario. Netravathi River joining and mingling with Arabian Sea is at Ullal. Someshwara beach has spread over its long water play here in Ullal and gives a pleasant feeling to the visitors. The sand has a special look of gold dust, but you can't smuggle it as gold since it is only dust. But when you walk on endless golden sands in cold or warm weather you feel it a pleasure and while walking in hot summer you will burn your feet.
Beautiful temple, well maintained and well built. Extremely clean too. Parking available. Stairs available directly to the Someshwar beach too.

Main landmark of Kumpala. Most happening and peaceful place. Lots of festivities happen through out the year. Krishna Janmashtami is quite popular event. Every Saturday evening 6 - 7.30 there will be Bhajan.
No words to explain the calmness. A stones throw away from a totally secluded beach ( as good as private most of the time) and a lot of space around the house. My kids spend most of the three days by the beach. The heritage house is very tastefully d

Beautiful place! Though it's just 1 bhk, they have ample space and provide beds to sleep. Recommended only for bachelors and small families. And the pool is fantastic and has a bar kinda set up near the pool.
