Shri Sangameshwar Temple, Chikkasangam - Featured Reviews (199)
The meeting points of rivers Ghataprabha and Krishna is called chikka sangama. There's was a Lord Shiva temple built at this junction many decades ago calledas Sangamanatha or Sangameshwara. After almatti dam was constructed this temple got submerged in backwaters. Hence a new temple was constructed with punar pratishtapana of lord sangameshwara. This temple is the same rebuilt temple. Temple Premises is large neat and clean. Sangamanatha prasada lunch is given on amavasya days, check with temple priest if you visit on that day. Usually not crowded on other days - you can go here with lunch or snacks packed from home. Plenty of space available to sit and have food for groups. No hotels or eateries available at this location - hence plan your visit keeping this in mind.
-Much recommended place -Tricky and narrow road be careful with google maps -Best time to visit-Monsoon>winter -washrooms are well mentained -ample amount of parking available for cars and passengers vehicle. Gardening is good all around the temple -No tickets for entry or parking -There are just 2/3 local stores so bring needy things along with you -some brunch and cold-rinks were available
Nice architecture great work by Shivananda Jamadar Sir
GoD.. Chikka sangama is a place where rivers krishna and ghataprabha are confluenced, this place has a sangamanath temple with a beautiful architecture. People and devotees from far places visit this place through out the year. The jathra mahotsava ( Chariot procession) is held every year. Thousands of devotees turn out for the event. The Chikka Sangama temple, where Basavanna is reported to have received deeksha from his guru, has been submerged under Almatti dam waters.
Best place to hangout for short ride with friends has river side and a big temple good to go on low clam sunny day
Amazing place we went in morning 9 there was no person literally so much peace and silence best place to visit even the backwaters is amazing totally best place for refreshing mind
Peaceful temple, not many people around. Must visit at least once.
Plan for one day picnic, beautiful back water, clean place to sit and relax with family. It has limited shops so carry all you need. There is no hotel or lodge facility so plan your return as you have gone, there is no public transport or petrol station nearby. It's a remote place so don't expect that you will get what ever you need.
