It's very old temple. It was built by Maravarman Sundara pandian. Lord Chockanathar and Meenakshi amman are showering blessings on the devoties. Two wooden cars are available for the God and Goddess. On every Aani( Tamil month) (or) July month car festival will be celebrated in a grant manner.

The temple - tank which is a part of the temple is now seen separated from the temple which is a best evidence of theft of this temple"s land.
