Historical and oldest temple. Telugu Indian filmcomposer, Playback Singer Ghantasala Venkateswararao was great relationship with this temple. This is place where Ghantasala found himself a student of vocal music. He did that by eating once a day through the week at different houses (aayavaram) or even by madhukaram (begging for food as a brahmin student) and slept night time at this hanuman temple. Some pandits said that Gantasala got blessings from this Bhajana Maruthi( Here Hanuma is in form of singing style )
This is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the faithful disciple of Lord Rama. In Hindu mythology, Hanuman was the son of the Surya Deva (Sun God) and had features of a monkey. He was a faithful devotee of Lord Rama and helped him vanquish the demon king Ravana.The structure was originally built in 1713 as a post for the guards to protect a nearby lake 'Ayya Koneru'. It was converted to a temple in the early 20thcentury when an idol of Lord Hanuman was found in a nearby well. This is the only temple in India where the idol of Hanuman has the paws of a monkey.
Maruthi Bhaktha Mandali is also called as GUMCHI is a prominent place that was built in early 1900..now it changed its shape as a complete temple..before 15 years i always found so many retired employees used to sit here and share their job experiences which were useful to the then young employees a lot. I loves to sit here and recall memories of those people. It is located on the bank of AYYAKONERU a famous tank of good olden days. Now i am feeling this place gradually lose its prominence. HERE is a Hanuman temple which is popular among the other important temples of Vizianagaram
