Shri Kanjivanam kovil is located in the centre of Melur town which is in infront of the Melur bus station. It is very traditional temple and the deity is the Saviour god of 18 villages around the Melur. The appearance of the God Kanjervanam is holding a sickle in hand and keep a dog by his side. "Puravi Eduppu" is the common festival for all the 18 villages. ('Puravi' means 'horse' ). It is very powerful god.
