This is one of the most beautiful and ancient temples in Turuvekere. The Nandi in this temple steals the attention of visitors with its unmatchable beauty. The garbhagriha has a unique Shivalinga with Ganga carved over its head. The soapstone bell on the eastern porch is one more astonishing thing inside this temple.
Temple is under renovation by ASI when I visited 2nd week of November 2022. We can enter inside but not sure about poojas timings. This is a very old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is enough parking space in front of the temple. But the temple has very less visitors/devotees. There is a huge brass bell in this temple. The huge statue of Nandi Maharaj is very beautiful and eye catching.
Didn't get to go inside of the garbhgrah of this ancient temple but the Nandi maharaj statue is amazing. The polish is so fine, I wonder how would have they done this in the 12th century. If you clean the back of the Nandi maharaj statue, moisture re-appears how well it's a mystery. Probably next time I'll get to go inside the garbhgrah.
It's a beautiful shiva temple , almost 1000 years old and with in 0.5 km surrounding two more templess are there. The nandhi is very big and beautiful. Even after 1000 years, it still shines.
Gangadhareshwara temple is built by Hoysalas, deity is Shivalinga which is unique among many in the world. One could see Goddess Ganga meditating on top of deity. 27 stars along with Sun and Moon are carved on the deity. There is a huge bell carved out from soap stone at one corner of the temple. Nandi statue is beautifully carved from black granite. Main sanctum ia opened twice a day (Morning and evening), please call temple priest , Mr Satyanarayana for more information.
