Shri Damodar Sal - Hindu temple in Margao - South Goa, India

Wanted to visit this place from the day I heard of this place. Not entered inside as its a in-house Temple and I was sweaty and unbathed...Place is more sanctified by Visit of Swami Vivekananda in 1862 hosted by Subrai Naik...AUM.

Very good place..... Swami ji stayed there 3 days....

Shree Damodar prasanna ... Preserved old architectural landmark ..... High on Vibes , this is a place u will need and devour your spiritual satisfaction .... May it be a busy morning or a calm evening , just glue your eyes on the serene idol , release ur stress and absorb the aura generated by this place ...... U will find the peace of moment and good energy to begin anything again .....

Beautiful temple in the heart of Margao. The temple was graced by Shri Swami Vivekananda during his visit to Goa.

A small shrine of Lord Damodar is famous throughout the city and is sanctified by SWAMI VIVEKANANDA in 1892. This temple is maintained by a prosperous family which is actually their house deity. This place is one of the few sites where Swami Vivekananda visited during his tour to Goa. The moment you enter this house -cum - temple , you will see an inscription reminding about the above fact. Every night a half an hour musical program is held which is totally devoted to Lord Damodar. According to a legend, when the Portuguese attacked the Hindu temples of Margao(then Mathagram) , the Lord of the city Lord Damodar was taken away and was brought to this site . The deity stayed there for some time and then was shifted to Zambaulim where the present temple stands. So do visit this "heritage" site!!

Let's be very clear: I couldn't find any of the devotees/ priests/Lord's Family during my half an hour stay inside the temple. Everything was neat & clean, DEEPAKs were glowing amidst the holy-fragrance. Claimed historical facts may be true but lot things missing to regain, to glorify the LORD. Decision is yours visit or not.

On usual days it's not a frequented place. Divine feelings. Quiet place of worship. Must visit temple...

A quaint place...one does feel the positive energy vibrations, although it's a family mainten ed , temple...pl visit now during the holy month of Shravan
