Chitragupta temple is a Hindu temple located in Nellukara Street Kanchipuram in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the rare temples of the Hindu deity Chitragupta, considered to the assistant of Yama, the Hindu god of death.
Chitragupta is believed to have emerged from a painting and set as the accountant of good and bad deeds of human beings by Brahma. The temple has a three-tiered Rajagopuram (gateway tower) and a single precinct around the sanctum.
I was told this is the 1 and only Chitragupta temple in the world. The priest was very accomadative and explained some benefits of the temple. Could really feel a very strong vibration.

The only temple for lord Chitra Gupta swamy...also a Kethu parihaara sthalam. It's situated on the main road. Very clean and neatly maintained temple. Devotees with Kethu dosham/ Kethu Dasa can offer ghee to the seven huge lamps placed in the hall behind the sanctum... pure ghee is sold inside the temple Rs70 in 7 small bottles for tge 7 lamps... ( so do not buy lamps or ghee from the hawkers outside the temple). Devotees can book abishekam seva in advance at the office behind the sanctum... lord Chitragupta idol is small with his consort and Kethu carved on the wall behind. At the right is the utsavar sanithi . A must visit temple in Kanchi .
They will give ghee in 7 bottles. Have to pour them in 7 vessels at the back of the temple.
Chitragupta swamy temple is about 5-7 mins away from Kamakshi temple, it's been newly renovated. A very small temple and the only temple in the work for Chitragupta, adideivata for Ketu.
Lot of people light the ghee lamp here.
It's a sacred temple dedicated to Chitragupta. It is well maintained, clean and hygienic. Anyone can come here and understand the history of chitragupta and his wives.
