The Bhadra Maruti Temple, located in Khuldabad near Aurangabad, is dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Hanuman. This is one of the only three temples in India where the idol of the presiding deity, Lord Hanuman, is seen in the Bhav Samadhi or the sleeping posture, the other two being at Allahabad and Madhya Pradesh. Situated just 4 kms from the renowned Ellora Caves, Bhadra Maruti is thronged by devotees, especially on Saturdays during the months of "Sharavan" according to the Marathi calendar. The legend of Bhadra Maruti is associated with King Bhadrasen, the erstwhile ruler of Khuldabad, which was known as Bhadravati in ancient times. The king was a pious devotee of Lord Ram and sang melodious songs in his praise listening to which Lord Hanuman descended near him one day. Spellbound by such sweet tunes, Hanumanji lied down in a sleeping posture (the Bhav Samadhi) and was requested by the king to stay there forever, blessing the ardent devotee of Lord Ram.
Shree Hanuman temple, lord Hanuman idol is really impressive to see which is lying on the floor. The temple is quite peaceful and there are a lot of sweet shops along with kids activities.
Bhadra Maruti Temple is one of the very unique temple where Hanumanji is seen in lying posture. This is an old idol, though the temple looks to be renovated. There was huge open air market place surrounding this temple. The market was similar to a fare. Just opposite to the main temple there was a Martand statue. Only male devotees are allowed to bathe the statue with oil. Temple parking available with minimal fees, however one can park outside the temple premises on road if don't want to pay.
Located in Aurangabad, it's an incredible temple. This temple is under renovation process. It's going to have a great temple complex at the end of the renovation. A lots of visitors gather there for the prayers and satisfaction! I feel proud being there as a part of my tour.
