En route Bharuch this morning we had planned having breakfast at Rajpipla. We stopped our taxi after passing Shreeji Nashta House.
Shreeji had a lot of crowd on their footpath tables whereas their neighbour few stores away with the same menu had no dining customers.
Shreeji had displayed trays of their offerings even as a person kept frying fresh snacks besides the counter. Walkin and dine in customers kept the store owner lady busy packing up orders and collecting cash.
Shreeji had Fafda, fried gram flour ribbons, nylon yellow dhokla of besan and which they serve with sev, white dhokla having rice and masala patra. They also had flat samosas with potato filling, moong dal marble like vadas (goti), chilly bajji and thin slice potato bajjis.
We asked for white and yellow dhokla, assorted bajjis and the patra. Like is common in Gujarat, Shreeji sells food by weight. They serve it on a newspaper with a thin paper film below the food. There are no plates or spoons and people partake of the common food.
You use a sweet yellow chutney of unripe papaya and fried green chilly when you eat. We ordered an Amul masti and a Jeera Soda after breakfast.
Our hot Shreeji breakfast was light and tasty and cost us just one hundred and fifty rupees. The best breakfast at Gujarat is the local one and at small restaurants like Shrerji.
They did have the other staple of the famous Fafda-Jalebi combination but we did not order the sweet part today.
