This is a detailed review and extracted from a terrible experience at dasturi car parking and only meant for tourists going to Matheran. The price board says the parking fee is only Rs30 bucks but these guys took Rs80 from me. These guys not only run the WORST car parking centre in the world but also pursue people till almost half a kilometre to get a ride withe their horses which apparently costs Rs2000 bucks for a person.You could argue with them but they form an entire group and try to convince you to take the horse ride. The entry fee to enter inside Matheran is an added Rs50 per person. These people don't even give personal space for you and your family or friends, they keep on interrupting about their price plan on their horses. This horse ride shows almost 5 view points in Matheran and goes through the market area. These guys finally told the price as Rs500 per person on the horse only till the market, but a labour guy on the middle of the trek, about 200meters from the point where they stopped pushing, said he would offer only Rs100 bucks for the same ride. So you are seriously looted for the worst service they give. I suggest that only if you are a very old person, you should take the horse trip. Otherwise, it is a very awesome 1.8km hike to the market. The hike is totally fun if you don't mind the horse poop every where in the hiking path. There is an alternative route to Matheran, the toy train route. Follow the tracks from Aman lodge to Matheran station it is a much quieter and better route then the route filled with dust, monkeys and horse poop. Matheran is the best place to go compared to others hillstations such as Lonavala and Mahabaleshwar. But these guys ruined the whole experience at the start. I've attached pics of sceneries, horse stables, rail roads, train station, and Dasturi car parking. This is the only parking option available for Matheran, beyond this point no motor vehicle is allowed. Parking is very haphazard, no proper parking bays, people park their vehicle randomly and there is no person dedicated to control it. Parking for a day costs Rs50/- Keep windows closed and food items hidden as that may attract monkeys who can create chaos inside your vehicle !! Once you reach you will find coolies and horse ride operators surrounding you, but for them this is the only business opportunities. I also found them polite and helpful !

It's located at hill top of Matheran hill station, approx 750 ft above sea level. Ample of space and can occupy more than 500 cars at a time. The floor is muddy and during rainy season it's a mess to park cars here. Apart from that very good arrangement for car/bike parkings. Parking here is not free it cost few charges. And the last thing is you car park your car even for weeks with no tension of getting theft.

Not as well maintained. Cars parked at random. But this is the only option near Matheran . They charge around 50 RS per day . Which is very nominal. The road from neral to Dasturi can be a bit tricky with the hairpin bends and slopes. Remember to be in 1st gear while tackling these hairpin bends at slope. I safely parked my car and didn't face any issue. But rated only 3star as it's not that well managed.

It's the parking lot for those who want to drive till mathetan. You can drive till the bottom of the hill and can get a driver who will drive uphill if you are not comfortable in ghats. They usually charge 200 for the driver and u get driver for coming back. Enjoy as the toy train is not yet started.

This place is not tourist friendly and pathways are very slippery that a normal person cannot walk even on a sports shoe especially the first few metres of treck. This place can be enjoyed by a good walk and if you want to walk first go up through train track and then walk carefully to the spots, but I felt intentionally it is being maintained in such a way that one cannot walk. Horse ride guys take you for a ride and expensive. There is lot of plastic abuse also. Overall a must see place and presently the train is also not working due to poor track conditions. In all I felt Maharashtra government is not very tourist friendly though their western ghats are very good tourist attractions.

Worst I have ever seen. No care about the tourists. Just looting the tourists. Double charging the customers. Parking is very crowdy and unorganized. Local taxi drivers or monkey may damage your car. If you love you car don't park it here.
