This Temple, located near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, India, is a renowned Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated in a picturesque setting amidst the lush forests of the Himalayas. Devotees and tourists often praise the temple for its spiritual ambiance and natural beauty. The temple's unique architecture, with its intricate stone carvings, is also a point of admiration. However, like any religious site, individual experiences may vary, and it's essential to respect the sanctity and customs of the temple
Temple is beautiful and Devine with lovely mountains around but alas it lacked public utilities no clean washrooms even for ladies and children. Wondering what bus full pilgrims do to relieve themselves. How unclean and unhygienic the surroundings must be.only bushes and jungle is there for you to cope with. I hope someone listening
It is a good place to visit if you are in rishikesh or Haridwar. The temple itself is just the destination, the most beautiful part is the Journey to the temple, wholesome and Beautiful. 24 KM drive from rishikesh is so soothing and eye-pleasing. Especially if you travel in morning, you will get to see some awesome views, Excellent whether and Enjoyable ride.
Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Nilkanth, an aspect of Lord Shiva. The temple is about 32 km from Rishikesh in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. The temple architecture is very much influenced by the Dravidian style of temple architecture. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a popular Hindu pilgrimage site. It is surrounded by dense forests and is adjacent to the mountain ranges of Nar-Narayan. It is enveloped between the valleys of Manikoot, Brahmakoot, and Vishnukoot and is located at the confluence of the rivers Pankaja and madhumati. The temple has a Gopura or the shikhara as in any Dravidian style temple and is raised high in a tiered way in pyramid style. Motifs and Friezes are carved on these towers. The shikhara of the temple is adorned with sculptures of various Devas and Asuras depicting the Samudramanthan. Neelkanth Mahadev in the form of Shivalinga is the presiding deity of the temple. The temple complex also has a natural spring where devotees usually take a holy bath before entering the premises of surrounded by dense forests.
Not maintained properly all. I do not mean to disrespect but the environment around and especially inside temple needs to be cleaned and maintained. Local people and government need to check on this asap. People outside temple keep telling you to buy things, more like forcing you which is not good. In short it is good, but needs a lot of cleaning and maintenance.
Very old temple and must visit once at least, Temple can be maintained well . It's around 15 kms from Hrishikesh.. 1 km walk will be easy easy terrain // little difficulty for aged people
This ancient temple is of great religious importance for Hindus. Lord Shiva, after saving the three worlds from the Poison, did his penance here for 60,000 years and established a Shiva Linga here. The visit was a disappointment, especially because of my huge longing to visit this temple since I was a child. The temple area is small. The management is haphazard. People are irresponsible and they just litter everywhere. Approach roads are so narrow you feel sad for yourself and for your car. The traffic is too much on weekends and the roads are insufficient and in a very bad condition. People are arrogant. All in all, finding peace in temples is a falsy thing today. They are more like money minting machines for Prasad vendors and souvenirs sellers. Even the chai pakoda at nearby eateries is bland, devoid of any taste. At least I feel good that I had the darshan. Har har Mahadev. Won't recommend for anyone planning a visit. Not worth it, especially during weekends.
Peaceful place. Connecting road is not good and you have to park your vehicle almost 2KM before. Small restaurants are there near the temple.

I live here and I feel like it's better than Dehradun and cities like that and way better than metro cities (all this is true for people with wfh or who have businesses in the city itself)
I have visited many churches but this is really quite unique! A must see even if you are not religious, but just for the very interesting structure, it is worth the visit Kotdwar
