Shree Maa Kankaleshwari Temple - Hindu temple in Kanchan Nagar - Purba Bardhaman, India

This is a really famous place among the local people. There is a story behind Maa Kankaleswari. After receiving a dream, the king of then Barddhaman Udaychand recovered a stone used for spinning clothes by the washermen on the banks of the Damodar. The idol was carved in that stone. This stone deity was later installed in the temple. This temple is more than two thousand years old! You can visit any time here.

Excellent place to visit and have darshan of Maa Kali. A very rare idol of Godess. Very nicely maintained temple premises and surroundings. The History as per the purohit goes like this, the idol was found in Damodar river and people brought the idol in the present location which was build into a temple by Burdwan king.

It is a 20-25 min route in e rickshaw from Bardhaman Railway station. There is a large field infront of the temple premises where large people gather, fairs are held and meetings are also held which have been attended by Important personalities. There is also an Old Age home just beside the temple. Overall a very good place to visit.

One of the Sakti Pith of Debi Sati Mata. As per mythology, the skeleton of devi Sati was fall in this place. A very well maintained temple, large play ground and a very good environment attaract the people. Good parking place available. There are two other temples situated on the other side of the ground for lord Shiva and lord Vishnu. Ladies toylet is available.
