This is a sacred ancient place related to mahamuni Markandeya and Yamraj. Lord Biswanath punished Yamraj and forced him to allow Markandeya to live up to "seventh kalpant". It's a nice peaceful place. A big ancient trishul in Shakti mandir amazed us.
The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, often referred to as the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, is one of the holiest and most revered Hindu temples in India. However, it's important to note that the Kashi Vishwanath Temple is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, not Uttarkashi, which is a different town in Uttarakhand. Nevertheless, let me provide you with some information about the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. It is situated on the western bank of the holy Ganges River in Varanasi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus. The temple has a rich history that spans centuries. It is believed to have been originally constructed in the 11th century by King Harishchandra of the Kashi Naresh dynasty. However, the temple as it stands today was largely built in the 18th century by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore, following its earlier destruction by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple is not just an architectural marvel but also a spiritual and cultural hub. It features a stunning, gold-plated spire and intricately designed walls. The temple complex is known for its serene and spiritual atmosphere, attracting thousands of devotees and tourists daily. One of the most cherished rituals at the temple is the Ganga Aarti, which takes place every evening on the ghats of the Ganges River. This elaborate ceremony involves the offering of prayers, incense, and lamps to the river, accompanied by devotional songs and the ringing of bells. The sight of thousands of lamps floating on the river during the aarti is a mesmerizing and spiritually uplifting experience. Visiting the Kashi Vishwanath Temple is not just a religious pilgrimage but also an opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of India. It is a place where history, devotion, and the timeless flow of the Ganges come together, making it a symbol of India's deep-rooted spirituality and cultural diversity.

Nice little temple. Peaceful. During evenings you may find a lot of rush, but the crowd is managed well and you can get darshan quickly. There is paid parking spot and the approach road is dotted with vendors.
