One of the best and peaceful temples you can visit in Gujarat. A holi place with some backstory in it. You can visit the Gopinathji temple in the main temple area and can visit Dada Khachar's Darbargarh where lord Swaminarayan himself stayed. A well managed place and a temple that speaks louder than just the history that is assigned with it!

- Bhagwan Swaminarayan stayed here for more than 28 years of his life. - Dada Khachar was a big devotee of bhagwan Swaminarayan. He donated his land of residence where this high temple was built. Dada Khachar's residence had a big open courtyard. The temple is built in this courtyard area. - Bhagwan Swaminarayan himself worked with people in constructing temple by lifting stones and also supervised the construction. - There is a huge gadh, square in shape on which temple is built. It has a huge assembly hall with kitchen and large dharamshalas for pilgrims. - Bhagwan Swaminarayan along with his saints uses to take bath in Ghela River. -The place of cremation of bhagwan Swaminarayan is situated little away from the town and is known as Lakshmi Wadi. It is just a single dome temple constructed there with some remains of bhagwan Swaminarayan's mortal. - Other holy places worth visiting are Hanuman Temple on Nariyeli Dhar, Bhakti Baug, Radha Vav and baps Swaminarayan Mandir on small mountain.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Gadhada Gopinathji Mandir, and it was truly a remarkable experience. This beautiful temple has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century, and it is considered one of the most sacred places in the region. The temple's intricate architecture and stunningly detailed sculptures are a testament to the remarkable craftsmanship of the artisans who built it. As soon as I entered the temple, I was overcome with a sense of peace and tranquility. The atmosphere was incredibly calming, and I felt a deep spiritual connection to the place. The devotion and emotions of the devotees were palpable, and I was moved by the love and reverence they had for the deity. Bhagwan Swaminarayan spent most of his life here and toured the whole of Saurashtra with this as his center. Despite the challenges posed by the current situation, the temple remains a place of great significance and is open to visitors. The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful, and they do everything they can to ensure that visitors have a meaningful and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend visiting Gadhada Gopinathji Mandir to anyone looking for a deeply spiritual and emotionally enriching experience. The temple's rich history, stunning architecture, and powerful spiritual energy are truly awe-inspiring, and I left feeling deeply moved and grateful for the opportunity to have visited such a special place.

In 1800, he was initiated into the Uddhav sampradaya by his guru, Swami Ramanand, and was given the name Sahajanand Swami. Despite opposition, in 1802 Ramanand handed over the leadership of the Uddhav Sampraday to him before his death. According to the Swaminarayan-tradition, Sahajanand Swami became known as Swaminarayan, and the Uddhav Sampraday as the Swaminarayan Sampradaya, after a gathering in which he taught the Swaminarayan Mantra to his followers. He emphasized "moral, personal, and social betterment,"[8] and ahimsa,[9] and is also remembered within the sect for undertaking reforms for women[10] and the poor,[11] and performing non-violent yajnas (fire sacrifices) on a large scale.[12] During his lifetime, Swaminarayan institutionalized his charisma and beliefs in various ways.[13] He constructed six mandirs to facilitate followers' devotional worship of God,[14][15][16] and encouraged the creation of a scriptural tradition,[13][17][18] including the Shikshapatri, which he wrote in 1826.[19] In 1826, in a legal document titled the Lekh, Swaminarayan created two dioceses, the Laxmi Narayan Dev Gadi (Vadtal Gadi) and Nar Narayan Dev Gadi (Ahmedabad Gadi), with a hereditary leadership of acharyas and their wives from his own extended family,[web 1] who were authorized to install statues of deities in temples and to initiate ascetics.[13]
