Shimla British Resort - Resort hotel in Shimla - Shimla, India

We had high expectations coming to the British Resort given the website had promised so much in the way of an experience of British life from 1893. When we arrive, we immediately notice the half finished 3 storey modern construction project completely unfitting with this hotel. After some searching, we find the hotel manager who quickly informs us he has been in the job 3 days and that we are the only guests staying here. Great, more of the place for ourselves we think. Our room was advertised as a 2 bed cottage and immediately find there is only 1 bed - the other is a 5 ft sofa bed that is harder than a stone floor. The staff scramble to find some sheets (but no duvet or pillow) and we are left to erect the sofa bed on our own. The room has a few sheets of toilet paper, good thing we had some in the suitcase. When we arrive back later that evening we find out that the hot water is not working. We try to enquire about the property's promised facilities and activities: a leather library bar filled with old English pipes, cigars, and a wine cellar; tea lounge with afternoon tea served every day; a nearby golf course; a pool table mentioned in many reviews. The golf course is not open to civilians and the rest the staff seem to be unfamiliar with. We must be clear that minimal blame goes to the hotel manager. The hotel reminds us of the British TV show Faulty Towers where the hotel manager finds themselves in the deep end running a dysfunctional hotel. This place has much potential but they need to improve the guest experience and deliver on promises.

Very nice pet friendly place. I brought my dog here. He enjoyed a lot as there is a lot of empty space and you can play with your pet here. A little off road from the highway, approx 1 km. Rooms are big, view is nice. Overall nice place. The villa rooms are rustic n gives a proper Gothic colonial vibe

Great staff and hotel. The hotel is located little away from the Mall road but not a concern, as they provide pick and drop facility. The rooms are just simply amazing. The entire ambiance is beautiful with woodwork each and every corner. The rooftop restaurant had a great view great place to chill at. We stayed in the Danish Imperial Room which was just below he restaurant.

The hotel met all of the expectations from hygienic rooms to most scenics views. The rooms are quite spacious and luxurious. The owner, and the staff are really nice and amiable. If you're looking for a lavish hotel that is also budget friendly, I recommend it. Would definitely visit again in near future. The rooftop restaurant is a very nice place to sit out and chill with friends.

This was my second experience in the same hotel. The first experience was fabulous. The premium suite room was good. We had excellent service of breakfast. Food was great and the chef was very humble. Good location and beautiful envious surrounding. All the persons were incredibly helpful.

The rooms are elegantly appointed, offering modern comforts while maintaining the colonial charm. The dining experience was equally delightful, with a variety of delectable dishes that cater to diverse palates. Overall this property was luxurious, dramatic yet humbling at the same time.

Impressed with the exceptional service, wonderful ambience and spacious rooms. was great. Food quality was great. It was an outstanding dining experience. The location is in the middle of the forest area, but they provide transportation facilities. The way is steep but quite nice and peaceful.

Though The hotel is very nicely constructed and the food is of amazing quality but needs a little renovation overall a pleasant experience to stay at this property. The manager and the staff are extremely helpful and polite as expected from the hospitality.Thanks
