Shillong Veterinary Hospital - Featured Reviews (186)
This morning our dog was in a critical condition. N we check it online this place it was written 24/7 hours open but when we reach there no one is there we went to talk to the staff members saying it's emergency but he was busy listening to the song and he said" he couldn't do anything the docter is not here" .. while waiting for the doctor till 2 hours our dog passed away so I will not suggest you this veterinary is the worst ever..
This is my personal opinion based on my personal experiences. 1. My female young cat had a miscarriage, took her to many vets which they recommended Shillong veterinary for USG, long story short Dr Dkhar saved her and one of her healthy kitten which was found during the Ultrasound. 2. My male cat was badly wounded and thought he wouldn't survive since his small intestine was ruptured and had internal bleeding. Dr Sanju and his staffs immediately rushed my cat to the OT and saved him. And now my cat is back to being a healthy boy, immense thanks to them. On the other hand it looks like they are understaffed , would be better if they get more doctors and staff to care more patients and with better equipments so we don't have to go to Guwahati. Probably make it a 24x7 running hospital too .
Even when my dog was in critical condition they said we have to wait till 9:00 when is was clearly written 24hr open and it feels so wierd that even when the animal needs and emergency they refuse to check.. I will not suggest you even if you don't have any option please go to a private clinic that will be more better. Hope this review will help you guys to understand that the government vet hospital in shillong is worse. They should atleast keep a professional staff to helping during emergency and also they should have a doctor when it's clearly written 24/7
They give unnecessary injections,1st day I took my 1yr old cat because he was limping but without checking him nicely they gave me to bring 3-4 injections and on the 2nd day they didn't use one of the injection, it was a waste. They wasn't sure what was wrong with my cat and keep on giving him 3-4 injections daily for 6 days and when I asked they didn't even replied clearly what kind of injections they were giving him. But some staffs are ideal and kind , they were helpful.
My GSD died today despite having bringing here for 3 days straight, they couldn't give me a proper diagnosis and the senior vet doctor was completely bland and clueless with the encounter, not to mention rude as well. On the first day the Dog was doing still fine, could walk and eat and wag his tail, it took forever for anybody to come on time, no excuses for being a govt estabkismment. 2nd visit became worse, he couldn't walk as much though he was administered more medication , on the 3rd he was completely unable to walk, more drip and more syringes but still, asked the doctor what the problem was, he said it was a blood related problem and wasn't quite sure nor had enough time to address to me the proper diagnose in a proper manner, i get it, you're busy but you're a vet, in a field which requires you to be kind and caring, not an arrogant person who can't show a little empathy, we still don't know the exact cause of his death, I presume it's poison of some sort cause he was perfectly ok this Saturday, anyway, I'm glad for the junior vets and the staff at the vet, they work in horrible conditions, and some do it with an aching smile, the govt is obviously to blame for the poor conditions of the building and facilities, as for the senior staff, please get off your high horse, animals needs more love, May my dog rest in peace.
One of the worst vets ever a 3 months old kitten being injected four times in a row which is simply a doubtful thing to say whether the antidote is specifically for that illness and also being a asked to come the next 2 to 3 days to repeat injection I think the doctors and the trainees are there not to heal sick pets instead to experiment with various drug which will eventually lead to fatality . This kind of practice will surely put the hospital at stake. Anyways requesting the minister who is in charge of the Vets portfolio to please take immediate action and ensure the best infrastructure of all the staff ,doctors, trainees and the hospital as a whole.
It was the worst experience. I lost my 3 month old kitten from the overdose of injections given to him. My kitten was bitten by a male cat and was taken to this hospital. The doctors and the nurses were rude and impolite and handled the kitten very roughly. My kitten was given 6 injections on different days however to the 5th injection, he became weaker, could not even move normally and could not eat anything. He passed away after some days. This left me in regret and tears. On asking the other good doctors from private clinics in the city, they said that too many treatments have been given to such a small kitten. Upon reading the other comments, i tend to question if they even gave the right injections needed
What the people there in the shillong vet hospital are doing is beyond words. They are great doctors, wonderful workers. If not for them...even now on a Sunday when they are serving the pers n stressed owners, goes to show that they are doing a blessed job. Truly amazing. I salute them. May they remain blessed.
