Shilheipung Garden - Garden in Imphal - Imphal East, India

The only place where children and adults alike can have a wonderful time. Children in particular are very fond of this park because of the numerous playing items this park provides. The indigenous decorative art displayed in some way or another all around the park is something very intriguing. The most striking thing about this place is how there's always something new to see every time you visit.

It is a great place for recreational purposes. Although a little bit far from the capital city (around 19km- 10 miles) it's worth visiting. Children loves to play here. The environment and atmosphere were good compared to other park. One could see litters all around the park which is a little bit disgusting to see. For two wheelers along with three persons they charge around Rs100. It would be worth advisable for commuters to keep the surroundings neat and clean. Also, commuters should be obliged to keep litters in the dustbins near/inside the park so that it would aid the workers and thereby keeping the park clean.

Lovely place for families and friends hangout. One can reserve for camping or picnics for a day or more. They have plenty of places like hut for cooking for groups. Is a 30 minutes drive down from Imphal.

Toilet service is very bad. Renovation required. Otherwise good place to hang out with friends and families. A good sight views. Nice conceptual design of the place.

Shilheipung Ecotourism and Crafts Village is a tourist place situated at Leimakhongmapal, near Lamlai Imphal East District Manipur. It is a popular tourist spot in Imphal packed with wonderful art works, collection of traditional and modern handicrafts, collection of indigenous and exotic plants, aviary (bird's home), apiary (bees home), fun adventurous activities with all facilities for picnic. If you want to experience something unique and different, then you should visit this place . *Distance from Imphal city: 20 kms *Time taken to reach the park from Imphal city: 35 mins maximum *Entry ticket rate: Rs 20 per adult *Camera ticket rate: Rs 100 Using google map, one can easily find out the route and directions to this tourist place from Imphal. In short, it is near Lamlai police station. Along the NH 150 Ukhrul-Jessami road, the welcome sign board shows entry way to Shilheipung. There is well maintained area for parking vehicles inside the entry gate, which is totally safe. As you enter you can see art work. You can start exploring the place. Bullock carts are kept to make feel like you are visiting a village. They are a means of transport used in olden days which are rare to see these days. It is good for children as they can see and touch, though they have learnt it in books, B for bullock cart. For those who came for Manipur picnic type with all cooking items, there is a well maintained open kitchen under thatched roof hut. I have no idea if they charge or not. I was impressed to to see the design of the hut. Drinking alcohols in the area are not allowed. You will missed Sekmai and Andro park for this kind of activities. As you walk around, you can find aviary (bird's home) and apiary (bees home). An example of ecology and food chain. Birds will eat the insects living around and prevent the insects destroying the flower and plants. On the other hand, hard work bees will collect nectar, by visiting as many flowers as they can, to make honey. They also played an important role in pollination. Albert Einstein once said " If the bee disappears from the surface of the Earth, man would have no more than four years to live". Explanation>No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man. If you get tired walking around, there are small huts for you to rest There is a food court which might have all the fast food items. It remained close when i visited. For those who love adventurous and fun activities, they have kept rope climbing, rope bridge, balance walk, tyre swinging, rope net climbing etc. Many variety of flowers bloom in the garden.

The place is vast, have quite some nicely installed structures that quite stand out. It has play areas for childrens, ample parking spaces, nicely built camps, water bodies etc. You can choose to cook your food or bring in your own ones from home. They have a cafeteria as well but i didnt get a chance to check the menu. Definitely worth a visit
