This is the actual Shankaranarayana temple
The village of Sankaranarayana has the temple dedicated to the Lord Sankaranarayana - A merger of Siva and Vishnu - as the sthalapuraba suggests It is one of the seven moksha kshetras estd by Parasurama The temple pond is beautiful and is in the middle of the idyllic village surrounded by old kerala style houses of the agraharam At the entrance of the temple u will be greeted by life size dwara palas - one from siva ganas the other from vishnu ganas The main deity is very handsome - to ur left is siva part and to ur right is Vishnu part The two lingas in the front are swayam bhoo The archakas perform the rituals quite meticulously One can see a time frozen life style of the vedic agraharams here We did not check about the accomodation and food as we were there for couple of hours The person in the counter was very friendly
The deity is mix of Shiva(Shankar) and Vishnu (Narayana) hence the name ShankarNarayan Temple... Oldest temple
