Reaching early in the morning is recommended. Approx 200 steps we need to climb for lord Shiva dharshan. A very beautiful and ancient temple. We can see the city view and Dal lake view very good.
Impressive views! Definitely a place to visit. Shankaracharya temple is more than 200 stairs away from the ground, It is a very old temple made-up of grey stones, not that impressive though. The temple is dedicated to lord shiva. Phones, cameras and other gadgets are not allowed. No entry ticket. Can view the whole Srinagar in birds eye view. Very calm and peaceful

We visited the Shankaracharya temple which is located in the Shankaracharya forest, Srinagar. It's a beautiful way up there. The road is quite well maintained blessed with forest on both sides. The day we visited, it was raining which made it more green and was like cherry on top. Green always soothens your mind. Once you reach a place, you have to park your vehicle and either proceed by walk or auto. Then climb some steps and reach the beautiful mesmerizing temple. The view from top of the temple is just incredible. One can see the full natural beauty of Kashmir from there if fog allows you to do so. It's just a must visit place.
You have to climb more than 200 steps to get there but totally worth it. Because the temple is located in a high position, when you get there, you can see the whole city, even see the tiny house boats like cubes arranged along Dal Lake. Entering the temple, you will be given small sugar cubes and the temple keeper will have a red spot on the middle of your forehead. Photography is prohibited in the temple.

Beautiful place to visit presenting the awesome look..but it is difficult to reach to top when the traffic is high as the road is narrow..... on the top it presents the awesome look of the Srinagar city.... if you are on tour with your friends then enjoy the visit by foot as the you will enjoy more while walking towards the top than on reaching top,.
