Shaktipeeth Maa Malai Chandi Temple, Amta - Hindu temple in Amta - Howrah, India

One of the oldest temple in Howrah district, very peaceful place, one must visit. Taking a four wheeler is problem because of parking issue. The local people are also very helpful and cooperative.

Joy Ma !!! The atmosphere is really very good. The temple territory is neat and clean. The inside of the temple is large. There is 'NAT MANDIR ' for the pilgrims who can take rest . The water system is good. There are two tap waters,,one is for the pilgrims and other is for the management. There is a RamKrishna mandir inside the temple. Overall the ambience is really very good.

Its one of the 51 Shakti peetha temples where sati's knee cap / patella (maalaaicaakii "malaichaki" in Bengali) fell. From there the name of the temple Melai Chandi mandir was established. Its in proper Amta town , under Howrah district of West Bengal. Very peaceful temple in normal days and people can offer pujas with ease. Besides the main Melaichandi mata temple, there is also a Ramakrishna temple and a Shiva temple inside. The Ramkrishna temple has deities of Lord Ramakrishna, Sarada maa and Swamiji Vivekananda. The ambience is good and one can sit for a few minutes in the Naatmandir inside the temple complex. The deity is said to be carved out of black stone which has turned red due to repeated layering of sindoor (vermilion) on it. The God here is said to be living (jaagrt in Bengali) and satisfies the wishes of a real needy person who worships from deep inside the heart. Reaching here is easy - reach Amta by bus from Kolkata or by train from Howrah - both around 2 hours journey and then walk to the temple or avail battery rickshaw services. Recommended for a day tour for spiritual minded person.

Nothing much to say additional on top of what my fellow travelers had given the reviews. Yes, very well maintained, neat and clean Temple premise. The temple premise is having main temple "garvagriha", Nat Mandir, Thakur Shri Ramkrishna, Maa Sarada, Swami Vivekananda temple, Shiva Temple with big Shiva Lingam. Important point to tell about travellers who will be travelling by 4 wheeler. Mandir surrounding area is very very congested, narrow lane, you will literally not get any car parking. Google map shows road through No Entry bazar road, be careful for that. Ask local people and try to be on main road, which is also very narrow.

Located in Amta district in Howrah this is a shaktipeeth. It's a serene and a beautiful temple where one can worship MAA peacefully. The entire mandir complex is very clean. There is a ramkrishna mandir and shiv mandir also within the complex. The 4 wheelers cannot reach the main entrance of the temple as roads are very narrow. One needs to park the car at a little distance and either walk it down or take a Toto. There is a small tea cold drink shop outside the temple and also a puchka wala.

This temple is believed to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. rox.). The temple complex consists of Sanctum, service area, office room, Nat mandir, an atchala Durgeswar Shiva shrine and a recently built Ramakrishna Shrine. Its entrance is through the bazaar so four wheeler is not recommended. I went there around 4pm so can easily assume that the temple remains open from morning till evening.

It is one of the most Ancient Temples located at Amta Town, Howrah. Temple Authorities have really maintained the overall place quite well. Been there during Evening Aarti time. The ambience was so calm and peaceful. Had a wonderful experience. Now one quick advice : If u are coming from Kolkata side try to avoid riding/driving during late evening to be on the safe side considering Ranihati-Amta is a single lane long road where most of the patches remains completely dark with full of trucks and heavy vehicles. So be careful..
