Staying at Shahpura House was an absolute delight! This heritage hotel in Jaipur truly embodies the essence of royalty. The ambiance is regal, making you feel like a king in your own palace. The rooms are exquisitely designed, evoking a sense of grandeur and comfort. A must-stay place if you want to experience the opulence of Jaipur's heritage. Highly recommended for an unforgettable royal experience!"
No welcome drink though included in booking.
Food is cold in breakfast and no hot coffee from machine. Very limited options in spread.
Room was supposed to be Royal Suite with Pool View. But not provided with same.
Bathrooms get clogged easily.
Sink was also getting clogged.
No ventilation in bathroom.
Must avoid.
The heritage hotel has been exquisitely maintained. The room/suite we had was spacious and very comfortable. Staff were helpful.
Location is what it is. It is relatively quiet, but that's because it's not anywhere in relation to places to go or things to do. But it is in the main city.
What was supposed to be a beautiful mid-point of an idyllic two-week vacation turned into a nightmare at Shahpura House, Jaipur. We arrived late, around 11.30 pm, and were dropped off at the front gate of the property, which is located in a residential neighborhood. The driver unloaded our bags; the only security guard at the gate asked us to proceed to the lobby for check-in. He would bring in our bags, he assured us. For context, the front gate is just a few steps from the lobby.
Upon settling in the room, I noticed that my iPad was missing. Having traced my steps back, I concluded that I could not have left it behind at my previous stop. I Informed the receptionist, who said nothing could be done at such a late hour. He checked with the guard and the driver, and none of them had 'found' it, he said. None of his supervisors could be woken up at that hour he added. One individual I spoke to over the phone said I should wait till 7 am the following day.
Needless to add, it was a very disturbed night, most importantly because of the insecurity and fear of being in a property where no one was taking us seriously or taking any action to address our concerns.
Throughout this ordeal, I had to hear two phrases from all the hotel staff I spoke to: first, such a thing has never happened here before, and second, it must be in your room, are you sure you have looked carefully. This, despite repeatedly stressing that according to 'find my iPhone' my other Apple devices were clearly showing in my room, whereas the iPad's last location was not in my room but somewhere around the main gate of the property.
To cut a long and painful story short, the iPad was found the next day, after hotel management was finally convinced that it was somewhere close to their property. It had been stolen by the security guard, who had hidden it in a dried-up water tank across the street, which explained the location being picked up by 'find my iPhone'.
All the beautiful photographs and claims of hospitality on the Shahpura website fell miserably short of the basic levels of responsibility and support expected of a normal hotel, let alone one that claims to be a four star property with a royal heritage. While it is unfortunate that the security guard was responsible for this incident, what was more disappointing was the careless and unprofessional manner in which this was handled. Had it not been for our travel agent, who pursued this matter relentlessly, we would never have been heard.
Full disclosure:
the hotel has promised to make one out of a three night stay complimentary. While I consider this woefully inadequate for what we went through, the purpose of this review is to make other travelers aware that at a time of crisis, this hotel did not rise to the occasion; rather it left us feeling completely helpless, unsupported and abandoned.
None can deny the beauty of this palace, it's just an amazing royal like feeling to stay in such a place. The interior of the Royal Suit is nothing less than a masterpiece. The palace cum hotel is very well maintained and efficiency administered. The only area of improvement I would advise is the buffet they serve. The quality of food is good but the options available can be changed. The buffet improvisation is purely based on the wide spread of variety that I have tasted in different 4 star hotels. Afterall, an excellent stay even requires best buffet options.
The hotel is located in the new Jaipur city, for tourists its a bit far from the old Jaipur with the usual tourist attractions. The property is a heritage palace converted into a hotel which is evident from the rooms with windows and partitions oddly placed. The architecture and halls are amazing though with generous use of marble and glass. As you wander through the hall way it will take you back to the era of the Maharaja's. It is worth a visit to get a little taste Royal life. The staff and reception could do with a little cheering up, we never saw them smile probably you need to be from a different country for that.
It's a big big hype in the name of heritage properties. I stayed for 2 nights in Royal suite which was not at all Royal but a shabby room where the flush of toilet was not working, hand shower was in terrible condition, bathroom towels were used towels and so on.... I was told that my room would have a pool view but it was all lies. They promised to change my room but again a lie!!
It's only to loot foreigners in the name of boutique n heritage properties. Its price per night is way above 5 star rates but absolutely a scam!!
I will never recommend anyone.
Beautiful heritage hotel but if you rely on free wifi forget it, they only allow 2 devices, slow speed down and automatic disconnect after 10 minutes, so if you're trying to book further travel you are cut off mid stream which is very frustrating.
For a quality hotel I'm amazed at this policy on wifi.
I stayed at this hostel recently and booked one bed with them. The bed was comfortable and the ambience of the room given to me was nice. The peace and the overall environment here is very nice for backpackers like me. The food is reasonably priced
