I was been there for sweets. Very old, well-known and traditional Bengali sweet place. Where many people love to go for food. They make great tests.
This is one of the oldest and most popular Sweet Shop in North Kolkata.
One can find very unique sweet items like ICECREAM CAKE, ROSE BUD etc.
Sen Mahashay is one of the famous sweet shops in Kolkata city, the quality of each of its sweets is very good, especially Babu Sandesh, Mihidana, and Rabri Sandesh. Radhaballabhi and Alurdam from this shop are amazing. But the price is high, any sweet starts from around twenty rupees.
Bengali cuisine is dominated by sweets. We eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are also an integral part of our celebrations. Our sweet varities are so vast that they will daunt even the most resolute gourmand!
North Kolkata has a special place in our hearts when discussing sweets. It is home to some of the best sweet shops in the city. One of these legendary shops is Sen Mahasay Pvt Ltd. It has served us ambrosial candies for decades.
It is put up at a stone's throw distance from our residence, near the Hatibagan outlet of Aminia at Fariapukur. It is accessible via various forms of public transport. Due to its proximity to our house, we have become regular customers.
Apart from mouth-watering sweets, they also offer samosa (Rs15) and Radhaballavi (Rs15) that are perfect for breakfast and evening snacks. Among the sweets, kheer kadamba (Rs20), soanpapdi (Rs15), Darbesh (Rs25), kora paaker sandesh (Rs15-30), and jal bhora (Rs20-25) are my favourites. They also purvey mishti doi and paneer at competitive rates.
They also bring some luck! Last Saturday when we're enjoying the snacks, Mirabai won the first medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics. Superstition? Anything, for our motherland.
The OG Sen Mahasay is a must-visit for any Bengali whose heart lies in delicious sweets. I would strongly recommend you to try it out and Kheer Kadam is definitely a must-try
Very old & renowned sweet shop for traditional bengali sweets. Recommended. It's in Fariapukur, Bidhan Sarani, near Shyam Bazar. Also suggested to taste curd (di) from Amrit - which is just few steps from this shop towards tram line, in same side. Awesome Curd is available here.
Sen Mohasay is the most famous sweet shop in Shyambazar and also Kolkata. Going here since my childhood, the quality of sweets is very good, I have never been disappointed.
In spite of being a resident of Lake town I very often visit here.I am specifically fond of darbesh . Vegetable chops and radhaballavi along with potato curry are also my top favourite items.

It's an amazing place to have breakfast or snacks.. I have been having their hing kacuri for years now, it tastes the same, you should enjoy the kachuri with the chatnee. They do have other snacks, i really loved their dahi vada as well. Must try.
