My daughter gave birth in this hospital. She had worst experience with lactation consultant Rekha who was very arrogant. Even the nurses were better understanding and helpful in educating on lactation than the so called "lactation consultant". Its common that most of the first time mother's will be facing issues with lactation. But we realized that we made a mistake by consulting with her, she mocks and passes ugly comments such as "do nipple surgery". Such a filthy comments doesn't seem professional.
My sister blessed with a boy baby on 04.09.2023 ....she was taking treatment under Dr.Shobhana Mahadevan....no words to express about the dedication and the passion. She was very polite through out the journey of 9 months and very caring about my sister and baby. We are very much thankful to the doctor and duty doctors and the staffs. Thank u so much once again.
One of the best hospitals in Chennai for maternity. They will try their best efforts for normal delivery before opting for c-section. I would personally like to thank Dr. Amritha mam ( kind, dedicated) who helped me in normal delivery.
I am impressed with the smooth functioning of the hospital. Easy appointment booking, friendly and helpful reception desk, easy one stop blood tests and ultrasound scan centre. Dr.Shobana put me at ease at every appointment, I was comfortable discussing medical details with her and she put all my fears to rest. I liked the joint doctor-patient decision making,step-by-step protocols and destigmatizing delicate conversations around gynaecological topics, giving power to the patient. Thank you seethapathy for being with me in my pregnancy journey and ensuring my baby's safe delivery. I saw improvement in patient waiting time too. Kudos.
Writing this review after a year of giving birth. So no immediate fury or anger here. All that follows comes from a place of careful consideration of the hospital and its staff. I went to the hospital at around 3 am after some leakage of amniotic fluid and mild contractions for a few hours. This was 38th week of my pregnancy. Got admitted and stayed in my room for till 10 am. Between this 3 am to 10 am, I got dilated to 3 cm and was asked to move to the labour room. In the labour room, they waited till 12 noon and then the duty doctor, Dr. Mathangi, performed AROM. Was managing pain naturally till 3.30/ 4pm and then took epidural. Baby's heartbeat dropped and was moved to emergency C-Section. Now to what led to the C-Section: Extremely poor hospital management and medical service practices: 1. The bed in the room was so high with no lowering option that a normal 9-months pregnant women cannot possibly manoeuvre it to her comfort and ease. Pain management in such an uncomfortable set up room was difficult. The same bed was used after my c-section which was a nightmare once again. 2. Though Dr. Mathangi explained (in a perfunctory manner) as to what AROM (Artificial Rupture of Membrane) was, its necessity or need at that point of my labour was not explained. This doctor also tried to get me to take Epidural which I refused. She did not seem happy about it. Nor was the AROM that was performed by her recorded in my discharge summary by the hospital. 3. The hearbeat monitoring systems were malfunctioning (they tried two different machines) which essentially meant that I was strapped to a bed in the delivery room for 4 hours without being able to move around to aid dilation and manage pain. When my consulting doctor Dr. Amritha checked in around 3 pm, she allowed me to use my own birth ball and to move around while the duty nurses or doctors insisted that I lie down on bed. Their outdated, uncoordinated and patient-dismissing ways of handling women in labour is unfathomable. 4. I had sensation of pushing at around 3.30 pm . I had until that point not uttered even a single cry. As an aside, I am a generally healthy, cooperative person who was more than willing to be docile and go along with the doctor. My husband and I were together managing my pain with my breathing and his massages. When this sensation to push started I must have cried out 3 to 4 times. The duty doctor Dr. Sandhana checked in and said that I was only 3 cm dilated and that it was too early to push. She then proceeded on to say that I was "already" acting out, that I look "tired", that I should better take epidural in order to have some energy left to do actual labour when it happens. She kept saying that "you can't do this". 5. At around 4pm, the pushing sensation got really intense and I cried out again. Dr. Sandhana reappears, talks again about how I can't do this without epidural and then proceeds on to say that the Anaesthesian is going to leave the hospital and would not be available if I change my mind later on. I gave in to this sort of pressure tactic and consented to epidural. Strapped to the bed again to monitor heart rate post epidural. Administration of epidural also not mentioned in my discharge summary. 6. At around 4.20, about 10 mins after administering Epidural, the doctor, now my consulting doctor Dr. Amritha, says that the baby's heart rate has dropped and suggest emergency C-Section. Baby delivered by C-Section at 4.40 pm under general Anaesthesia. Nurses and staff completely useless. The lactation consultant was a nightmare. Suggested nipple shield without even seeing the latch. Start of all our lactation trouble. My otherwise healthy child lost >15% of his body weight and regained birth weight only after 21 days of birth. The hospital bill came to Rs. 1.3 Lakhs which is on par with other high-end hospitals that offer, if not better service, at least better amenities. Seethapathy rides their boat on the legacy of their name. Choose them at your own discretion.
Hope the hospital listens to the reviews of many people who suffer from lethargic and dumb RECEPTIONIST and MAINTENANCE department. Short:- Pros:- Angel like Doctors and Nurses They will try for normal delivery 100% percent. only exceptional case will be moved to C -Section. Cons:- * Dumb and Lethargic Receptionists * Unclean rooms with Bio Hazard Needle around * Over charging for child accessories in hospital shop * We faced one Junior doctor with hurting attitude. If we ask anything specific to the concern person, they all will play blame game and escape without answering. BEST DOCTORS i ever met in my lifetime. They are soo supportive, but these doctors efforts will be go in vain if RECEPTIONIST AND MAINTENANCE team rot it to at the core. Word of caution:- Since Seethapathi has best Doctors, it attracts too many patients, Remember hospital has only few rooms(They charge premium for Super Deluxe but it is worth). You will not get room you expect. Pease try to prebook rooms if possible. I suffered a lot to find the room. At last a charm provided a room. I'm giving 4 stars for those Angels(Doctors and Nurses) who cared us there a lot. And remember canteen facility is very limited. some rooms were not cleaned properly I saw a used needle with blood in nearby shelf in ER room during observation. Tip the person who stops visitors during non visiting hours, she will let even a village inside.(Hope hospital provides enough salary to this specific person). Providing the feedback form to the receptionist is bad idea. Please have some deposit box where patient can drop the feedback forms.
This is just about Dr Amritha Karthik mam ! She is a great gyno / politely answers all questions . Seeing her face itself will make you positive and feel happy ... generous person with no attitude . Kavitha from relationship team also helps a lot in terms of any questions and follows up . Kind nurses n doctors .
I would strongly recommend this hospital. From my personal experience, the journey was too good, and the doctors made it smooth. I opted for Dr. Amritha, who was too caring and concerned at every checkup. She comforted me so well and listened to everything I was concerned about.
