Seasonal Tastes - Buffet restaurant in New Town - 24 Paraganas North, India

Seasonal Tastes is a 5-Star Restaurant Section at The Westin, Rajarhat. Located just opposite to Eco Park in Newtown, this is a luxurious section for all types of food variant depending on whatever speciality you wish to choose The premium lounge with the phenomenal seating area along with the live music stage and imported beverages needs no description. The buffet counter with live kitchen serving amazing varieties like Bengali, India, Tandoor, Oriental, Asian, Continental and what not !! Their desserts sections can be a bit subtle but can be considerable. One of the best and largest buffets I have ever came across in Kolkata's 5-star properties Budget may not be considered here but if you want to enjoy a luxurious premium buffet with amazing spread, I would fully reccommend everyone. Truly a "5-star" experience !!

Visited to attend a South Asian Food Festival. The experience did not meet expectations in terms of quality and variety of food that should have been included in the food festival. Overall ambience and service are good though.

Had heard so much about this place, and going by the other Westins, I had harboured high hopes. Alas, it didn't match up to my expectations. Right from the get go, the hotel didn't seem as hospitable and welcoming as others. No one came to help my grandmother up the stairs, and we had to explicitly call for assistance. After entering the restaurant, the attitude of the attendants seemed quite cold and passive. This was a trend I observed for all of the support staff available that day. We had to call them to clear the plates; nothing was done impromptu. Even then, there was a colour of disconnectedness and detachment on all of their faces. Their body language wasn't welcoming. The spread was large, but most of it wasn't up to par. The live grill counter was slow, and the chef, upon requesting for certain items, said that they would take some time to prepare, half expecting us to withdraw/change our order. The Pani puri and shawarma stall were decent, but the person manning the shawarma counter didn't follow our request. We had asked for 2, he gave only one. And this was when he didn't have any other customers to attend to. The starters were fine, and the salad counter had many varieties, some great, a few not quite edible (at least for me). There was a drinks section where they had some juices and teas on offer. The customer was expected to go and pour the drinks on their own. The continental section had a focus on Middle Eastern and Far Eastern. The noodles and rice had only veg options, and the variety was too less. There were some breads as well. The Indian section was better, but there was a liberal use of oil, something which is not expected from a 5 star restaurant. The mutton was extremely rubbery, and I have better mutton at my local shop. The live luchi-torkari counter was good though. Now we come to the desserts. This section was the largest, but the surprise was yet to come. Almost around 50% of the items were based on oranges, which made them taste almost the same. This takes out half of the items on offer, and even then, they were not quite tasty. The remaining items were fine, having a mix of quite novel dishes to ones which were run-of-the-mill. Thanks to Dineout, I got 30% off on the bill. This was the biggest positive out of the experience.

Easily one of the best European brunch spread on offer. The variety in the buffet was mind-boggling. The fried or grilled fish items served on the spot lacked character. The corn pulao was a fantastic dish along with the mutton. The ambience is fantastic. service was professional but could have had bit more personal touch.

Food was average except the desserts. ITC Grand Market Pavillion and JW Marriot serves lot better food than this one. No continental options. Few grilled sea food items are available which are so so. Indian food was worst. Though I dint visit here for Indian food, but lunch buffet had no other better options. ITC and Marriott's biriyani tastes far better than this one. Service was good. Staff were also good.

Went there for dinner with family to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. The food was absolutely amazing.... The ambience was lovely too.... We took buffet there.... And so many options to explore.... The view from 10th floor was the bonus point...

Update: Visited the place for the third time with family and still live it. Must visit. Loved the places and the variety at the buffet was much more than what is on offer at J W Kitchen. The things we ordered at the live counter was delivered to the table really late and the drinks that they had was not being refreshed. That's the only critique i have for the place. This is a must visit and i would be paying the place a second visit soon.
