Good place to visit for half a day with family, specifically kids. Well maintained gardens, birds aviary and other attractions. One can't expect water to flow out of the dam always. Some days, they operate boat rides on the dam waters.
Amazing place and lovely enjoyment children park them swimming pool available. Couples & family enjoyment place The park was charging only Rs50 paise per head. Dam officials as forest department officials. Ensured that the charges were hiked to Rs 5 per head for children and Rs 10 for adults. The highest increase of revenue in the dam vicinity came from the fee hike in entrance to the forest department maintained crocodile park.
Good spot to visit.. gardens are decently maintained.. some shops are available There is parking available.. some entry fee is there pretty nominal though While taking the route use the one main road.. There is a signage that points to the dam on the main road. Take the right near the signage Follow the road after the right till you reach the dam entry about 6 kms or so Maps shows an interior road that doesn't really reach the dam
Good dam in Tamilnadu so many activities here for children but only think there is no maintenance. Govt thank action for maintenance then this super tourism spot in Tamilnadu. People also take care that this doesn't throw waste here. Monkeys are a problem for cars parking

If you are visiting Tiruvannamalai in morning, do visit this dam on evening. Children would love this, as there are lot of play area, parks, kid boat rides, crocodile park and lot of birds. Everything is maintained well. Max 3-4 hours you can spend here Tickets are very nominal . Good place for family get together and relaxation. Food is not available much, at the same time there is no restriction of bringing home food here. Just ensure that you don't litter the premise. Lot of hard work is done for maintenance and upkeep of the area.
There wasn't a plan as such but we made it through Gingee fort and reached this fascinating place. I could imagine how beautiful it would have been if the dam would have been filled with water. Definitely a nice place to bring kids and have a picnic.
