It's closed on Sundays. Which is a disappointment. It's in the middle of a small lane. Walking distance for Hanuman chak.
Sarod Ghar is closed now after COVID . We had visited the place with great excitement as my son is into classical music but the information online is not updated to reflect it as closed. The caretaker is very rude and totally spoiled the excitement. So save your time and dump this place from your visit list in Gwalior!
I visited late in the evening so it was closed at that time. Afterwards I come to know that it was closed after pandemic.
All musical instruments of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan displayed with other historical milestones of his life. However renovation is going on. Hence will take 4 months to reopen. Also parking is a problem hence use taxi. Must visit for music lover and children
Music enthusiasts must visit the Sarod Ghar, which is a museum of music and has been set up in the ancestral house of the legendary Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan. This museum houses ancient musical instruments which were used by legendary Indian musicians of the past. It also exhibits a great collection of documents and photographs and the aim of this museum is to promote Indian classical culture and music.
The thing it is mostly famous for is that this was the home of the world renowned Sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Now turned to a museum of music. The big let down about this place is the bad traffic at its location. Otherwise the collection of various musical instruments is definitely worth checking out. Sarod Ghar itself is quite beautiful too. It perfectly fits into the list of "places to go" in the historic city of Gwalior.
