I have been to Guwahati many times but I have never been to Kalakshetra. This time I went with my colleagues and I enjoy it as a beautiful place of interest. It includes a cultural museum, library and various facilities for preserving, demonstrating and performing cultural items, besides a children's park. You can enter with an entrance fee of 30 rupees and you are not allowed to bring any food items from outside.
The Sankardeva Kalakshetra Museum attracts a number of visitors, who are interested in the ethnic art and cultural diversity of Assam. There is also an artists' village within the premises, which the tourists can visit. The scenic view of hills is another attraction for the tourists. There is another museum called the Bhupen Hazarika Museum dedicated to the famous folk singer of Assam that can be visited. At times performances are organized in the open-air theatre of the institute for the visitors.

A very nice place to learn about Northeast Indian culture. Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra is a cultural institution in Guwahati, Assam, India. It includes a cultural museum, library, a children's park and various facilities for preserving, demonstrating and performing cultural items and history. It's a largest cultural congregation of Northeast India. The Kalakshetra is also a nice and attractive tourist spot in Guwahati. India's World famous musician and singer Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika musium is also located in this place. But the sad news is, Kalakshetra is not so disable friendly. There are so many staircase in the building, that's why people with wheelchair, can't watch all the parts of this musium.
All North-Eastern and other important specimens and items preserved. Significance is high. Clean and green environment. Peace and beautiful area. Weekly Cultural program is melodious. "-ve" Aquatic habitat lost. Canteen is full of plastic covered items.
