Sandur town in the Bellary district was infamous for illegal mining in the last decade. It is surrounded by valleys and looking like the Western Ghats during the Monsoon season. The valleys in Sandur are rich in bio-diversity with many rare species of birds, wild animals and different types flowers. Great temple, unique architecture and very old. But the adjacent mining areas make it a dusty ride, roads in itself are good but Mining trucks bring lots of dust. But once you see the temple, all that ride is more than worth. Temple is clean.
