Sandalwood Forest - National forest in Marayoor - Idukki, India

We were taken there in jeeps at 10:30-11:00 am in the morning. We met many deer and monkeys mostly hanging around here and there. The deer were quite scared but hungry and curious as to who we were. They were eating leaves. Monkeys were not so scared but also not that naughty. They were simply making sounds and were not scared of us. So many trees were marked with numbers. Those were the sandal wood trees. Don't take any wood from these trees as the act is punishable. The spot brings you closer to nature... Do visit it.

It's a wonderful experience to pass through this Sandalwood forest. There is Vanusree Eco shop from Forest Department where you can purchase various authentic oil, sandalwood items, honey etc.

Scenic road. Cannot enter inside the forest. Blocked with fence. Couldn't spot any animals in the afternoon time. Best place to take pictures. Very less vehicles. Calm and clean surrounding. Morning and evening time you seeing bison

This place is located midway from Munnar to Marayoor. There is nothing much to do here. Just enjoy the location and view while travelling on this route. It's better to cover this place during your return journey if you are going to Banglore.

The great Natural Sandalwood forest in Kerala . its very safely protected. Entering the forest before there was a check post. Drive through the forest so many Peacocks,, wild animals like, pig Deer,Buffalo, good natural resources. Take care of Sandal's only see and take photos, not to take any leave. Its an offence enjoy the driving, return to the way keep in mind with the checkpost ,. Recommended
