The worst attitude of the staff and not at all maintained every one smoke joint there they claim that they are holy at holy place but they are the worst we were continued stayed there since 2012 as they belong to Sitamarhi Bihar so as my husband and on ground of his region of Sitamarhi as we always have close connections with the place we belong to but this time Jitendra who take care of this place behaved so I'll mannered which was never expected from this place..... my suggestion is pls do not try this place if any one visiting first time in banaras there are plenty of best places at assi ghat shivalaya Banaras like Banaras haveli they charge full amount of any decent lodge would charge and services and behaviour is so bad enough to break your holiness and faith from local Varanasi people..... As Varanasi is really a powerful and beautiful place but people like Jitendra is enough to break it....Har Har Mahadev

The owner was extremely rude to us. Never visit this place. Made our experience horrible! There are many other hotels nearby, better check them out.

A beautiful and neat guesthouse by the River Ganga with spacious sitouts on each floor with river views. The guesthouse overlooks the ghat area for the very scenic evening aarti, that attracts people in droves. The food is delicious and homemade, the service is unobtrusive. Great value for money.

Positive: The hotel is in an amazing location just behind Assi Ghat, with morning and evening fire ceremonies and early morning free communal yoga. From our room (which had its own small terrace you could sit out on), the communal area and the top roof terrace you can see direct on to the Ghat and the river. Everything we wanted to visit was in easy walking distance. Jitendra who manages the hotel was absolutely lovely, he couldn't be more helpful and kind. We had a fantastic stay there. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper as the Ghat is noisy, we were woken each day by the start of morning chanting which we loved but some may want to sleep longer.. Negative: All was fine. Facilities are fairly basic in the bathrooms, with a handheld shower but that is standard in a budget Indian hotel..

Positive: Location right in front Assi Ghat. Could watch everything from our little balcony. It's a simple guest house but caters for everything. Was reasonably clean, comfortable bed and had a simple breakfast included which we were happy with..

Positive: It was really hot water there. The view from room with balcony was really nice - on river and Assi ghat.. Negative: It is so old and sad building and interior. Beds, doors, sofa, furniture is so so old and shabby, dilapidated. Doors especially: they have holes and look like someone was scratching them with claws. It is very unpleasant to stay there because it all looks like room of a poor beggar. Never can understand why it is so hard to change doors and tint walls just little bit maybe and it will become quite another story. Anyway it was only because we did not have time to search for other place but if I had I won't stay there even for a second. We also had problems with personal who first put us to the room with balcony and then came after an hour and said they put us there by mistake and that we should now pick up all our things and go to another room. It was nightmare of course because only cause of view I was ready to accept all this shabby stuff. After long quarreling they allowed us to stay in this room with balcony but I anyway do not understand why I had to faced all this story and waisting of time. It was totally there mistake and in a normal hotel I won't even know of this. Plus the driver of taxi they called both times cheated on us and took more money that we negotiated. And I asked to find another driver but it came this bad man again. Taxi is not their problem but they called him and were responsible forces actions. I was very dissatisfied and disappointed. And Varanasi is so great city: it is very sad that we had to faced all this problems. And we payed a lot for the furniture that is 50 years old and never repaired and for the doors that looked scary..

The view from it's balcony is awesome. It spans across the entire Assignment Ghat. However I was disappointed with the room. The water from bathroom was flowing into the room, there was no soap/handwash etc. Overall it's a so-so option if you are on a tight budget.
