I visited this historical landmark right after visiting the marvel of Patan - Rani ki Vav. This place is poorly maintained wihh minimal signs to guide the visitors. And this inspite of the fact that the local ASI office is located within this facility. I almost returned back because I could not find anything worthwhile but then decided to explore further and found the erstwhile Lake. Good place to revisit a historical site in Patan.
There is no information about the place on spot. Not even proper labeling. It is more picnic place for locals rather than a historical place. We'll developed garder is there. Place is clean. The ruins of this medieval era artificial water tank look marvellous. But it's not very well maintained. The government must take necessary measures to preserve this ancient heritage of Gujarat. While it figures amongst the top sightseeing options in Patan, the place is a bit of a let-down. It is neither well-maintained nor tourist-friendly in terms of guidance, signboards etc.
This historic place needs more attention!!! To begin with, It is a humbling experience to see that our forefathers understood the importance of water as a resource. This place needs to be more informative and at the same time more engaging for the visitors. Right now, it is just a massive park hemmed on all fours by a protective wall. But honestly, this place can be so much more then just a dilapidated historic structure. Hope the authorities take better steps to bring the best out of this place.

Not much to see except a few pillars and a broken structure that would have been a temple earlier. Can skip if you wish. It is just 5-7 min walk from the Rani ki vaav.
The forethought that the kings had to conserve water! It is a humbling experience. Where did this skill, talent, thoughtfulness all go? A structure that is 1 millinia old survives to this day.. and I can't help but wonder about our current million crore projects that don't last a couple of years yet end up destroying our natural habitation
