These are called..... 1) Atchala bari 2) Baro bari 3) Mejo bari 4) Majher bari 5) Benaki bari 6) Kalikinkar bhavan 7) Birati bari 8) Nimta bari First six houses are situated at Barisha area. And others are in Birati and Belghoria Nimta. Durga puja in Atchala bari is the first Durga puja of Kolkata. Jamidar Lakshmikanta Roy Chowdhury started Durga puja in this atchala temple on 1609 AC. This family gave lease Kolkata to the East India Company on 1690 AC against Rs.1300/- per annum. This deal was done in this atchala temple.
