Famous and legendary place, I am sure every foodie native to Bangalore must have heard and thought of visiting this place. After my first visit, I felt the mutton biryani was overpriced for the quality and quantity. The food was more salter than necessary. We all have one off days, hence I don't mind the salt, but quantity and quality that's unmistakable untill the place has made up its mind to serve low quality and unsatisfactory food. Skip it if you have other options.
Biriyani is great, it's spicy, not oily and have a different flavour to it. I reached there around 2PM on a weekend and it was not crowded as I expected. They serve you on leafy plate which is a good touch. They got good non veg sides too like chicken fry, kebab, pepper chicken etc which are good. The only thing bad about this place is the place itself. The ambiance is bad, it's not clean, the area is bad, to reach you gotta cross the market, don't even think of parking, always take a cab, they way staff carry and their attire is so unhygienic. Am sure it's not been washed for weeks. I wish it was more clean and hygienic.
Decent place, nothing extra, nothing less. We visited this place on a weekday in the evening when it was raining, so the restaurant was empty and the food tasted extra delicious. The biriyani is no doubt absolutely amazing if you're into the typical naati style biriyani. The service time is pretty fast, and there's a wide range of menu items. The biryani is served in leaves which really adds to the whole experience. Moreover, the prices are extremely reasonable and worth it. The ambience is average, and the place is clean. The approach is difficult in cars, but easy on two wheelers. Walkable distance from the nearest metro.
Ordered their biriyani rice along with kabab and mutton fry through Zomato . The rice was very flavourful and mutton fry masala when combined with rice enhanced the taste very well. The kabab was very much dry, don't feel like fresh meat.
Hearing reviews of this restaurant made me visit this restaurant... Food was not so good tried chicken Udayagiri ,chicken and mutton palao ... Both were average could have rated to 3 or 4 ...if the guy who serves hasn't treated like he is giving food for free ... Didn't even had patience to stand ask for order ... When resturant had just 3 group of customers including us... All I was struggling to get catch of him to get the order ... There was no raita instead onion mixture was there ... When asked for some of it on top of what he served .. he said onion price has increased I can't ... If he had said with a polite smile I would have felt it's right ... Customer service is a thing and Instagram has spoiled some good restaurants to lose its elegance ... NOT EXPECTING A KING TREATMENT HAVE AUDACITY TO ATLEAST RESPECT THE PEOPLE TRAVEL AND PAY FOR FOOD WHAT THEY EAT ..... SERVE WITH ''LOVE" even a stale curd rice can make ur stomach feel full if it's served right
This place is really not what it is made out to be. I don't care if it started in 1908, but I care if the taste has remained unchanged for those many years. To be honest, the chicken palav I tried really wasn't that great. The rice was sort of bland, the chicken okay, and that's about it. The quantity was fine for the price, but I don't think it was tasty enough for me to travel all the way from Yeshwantpur to Cottonpet just to eat it. I did get some hints of ghee, all though very slightly. The curry that they served with the biryani actually made the rice tastier, in my opinion. Overall, it just tasted like a normal Donne'ish style palav/biryani to me. There are much better Biryani/palav places in Bangalore. I am sure what was served in 1908 would be quite different than this.
Delicious non-veg dishes, diverse menu, great quality, and friendly service. Highly recommended for meat lovers!
