Royal Bengal Resort - Sundarban - Resort hotel in Gosaba, Dayapur - 24 Paraganas South, India

Not a good place. You can clearly see that it was once a great hotel with intelligent room design and good facilities. But now it is completely run down as the staff seems to do nothing in their working time. The lobby is filthy, the bathrooms are dirty, the bedsheets look disgusting. Rest of the room seemed to be clean and AC was working but all over the place you see broken pipes, mold on the walls and other signs of neglect. There's no wifi. The worst thing though is that from 7am onwards the staff will walk through the corridors, talking in a VERY loud way and making lots of noise. At 8:30 sharp we were thrown out of our rooms and they told us the boat is here to pick us up. We hurried outside only to wait for 45 minutes in the hot weather. We could've easily relaxed in our room that we paid for until the boat arrives but apparently the staff rather has a guest-free hotel than making sure they feel welcome.

Recently, we had made a 6,000 per person tour reservation. We had a very unpleasant experience while staying at the Royal Bengal Resort. There is no variation in the food supplied, and the food is of very poor quality and is served daily. Service was terrible... They request a queue up for the resort's poor meals. Very unpleasant experience. Insufficient expedition.

Recently visited this place. Stayed there for one night with my family. The room was neat and clean and well maintained. The staff were very co- operative and well behaved. Food quality was also good.

We had recently booked a tour package of 6000 per person. We stayed at royal bengal resort and had a extremely bad experience. No variety of food available....monotonous food every single day and very bad quality food..Service were disaster...They ask to line up for that terrible food in the resort. Extremely bad experience. Incomplete excursion.

We stayed in room 105 & 106 on 28th & 29th Dec 2022 as a part of Sunderban Eco Tourism package. Rooms & bathrooms were clean & well maintained. But room 105 is too small for 2 people where as room 106 of right size for 2 people comfortable stay. People are friendly. Garden & flowers are well maintained. No credit card accepted. Only cash or app based payment.

Just beside river boating ramp, about 50 meters, accessible only by boat, stayed for two nights on our Sundarban trip from 01-03 Jan 2023. Good rooms, double bed, three persons can sleep comfortably, geyser, western style commode, vast area, large dining place, place for bonfire, DJ music, folk dance etc, new Lord Krishna temple is being built (idol is not yet placed), just on opposite side of Pakhirala, great dinner, though dinner was cooked by our tour operators on our Launch which was extremely delicious. Dining hall also has big bathroom with all modern facilities. This is an isolated resort on a far island, no shops, medical facilities or market nearby, only a lady sells tea and cold drinks, whose house is beside the resort. Great place for group stay, not recommended for single family. Don't forget to carry your own medicines, as nearest medical facilities is available at Gosaba, a few hours boat ride. We had recently booked a tour package of 6500 per person. The hotel room itself is good. The food from the hotel itself is good. But if you take a package make sure to ask if food is from hotel or from boat. Because in the tour pack hotel is just for staying. Food from the tour package was from boat. The food from boat is horrible. They ask to line up for that terrible food, rather than a buffet system. Food will come after a lengthy wait in boat. We ended up ordering food from the hotel whenever we could, separately which was excellent. Sunderbans was a good memory in our experience before when we had visited few years ago. Now I don't think i will ever go there. This is the case for majority of tour packages there it seems. Looking at the same system in other boats next to us. Business people are seriously runing tourism not only local but even for foreign tourists. Which there will be none if this kind of profiteering and cost cutting system exists.

A big resort with ~80 rooms. Staffs are nice, ambiance as well. They are maintaining the property well.
