The Rowa Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Panisagar Sub-division of North Tripura district. Rowa Wildlife Sanctuary is a small wildlife sanctuary covering an area of 0.86 square kilometres (0.33 sq mi). Rowa Wildlife encounter you with several species of birds, primates, reptiles, etc. This National Park is easily accessible to the tourists through out the year.
The sanctuary is well maintained and a good option for a getaway from Panisagar. It remains opens upto 5 pm. There is a 2.5 km trail inside the sanctuary which passes through natural forest and bamboo forest patches. One can spot a good diversity of flora and fauna along the trail. A waterbody is also present in the sanctuary where activities like boating and birdwatching can be done. It also has a nature interpretation centre located in the premises.
Rowa is the 4th and the smallest wildlife sanctuary in Tripura. I wish they expand the overall size of this sanctuary and establish a zoo with variety of birds, mammals, reptiles and animals. It will attract more visitors into the sanctuary.
A very small sanctuary in terms of area but you will be surprised to see the rich biodiversity. A two km trail will give you lots of interesting avifauna sightings and if you are lucky enough, might get a chance to see the beautiful spectacled langurs.
It is a good place to visit, but it needs more attention from the government to make it a better site to attract tourists.
The Rowa wildlife sanctuary was notified in july ,1988 by the forest Department, Government of Tripura extending thereby special protection under the wildlife (protection act) 1972 over an area of 85.85 Hac. Of erstwhile procected forests (unclassified open Government Forest) in mouja Rowa of tehsil panisagar under Dhamanagar subdivision. Rowa wild life sanctuary , despite its small size has over the years gained a great deal of popularity , because of its natural beauty, restored with the active cooperation of the local community and partly because it is the only wildlife sanctuary in north Tripura. The sanctuary is particularly rich in birds and reptiles. Large flocks of migratory waterfowls congregate in the several water reservoirs developed in this protected area. The sanctuary is also a home to a bewildering variety of plant species including several species of medicinal value and their protection in the wilderness is extremely important from the conservation point of view.
Great Place to visit. Rowa surrounded by plants.
It's not a sanctuary. It is just a poorly maintained park. Actually it's not even a park, it's just a jungle with a narrow pavement.
These days they r looting customers. Last time when I went there and ordered butter chicken and roti. The roti was hard and burnt. The butter chicken was like pieces of chicken were floating on the water. Less gravy much water. It is better to cook a
