Worst homestay that I have ever stayed in. The service was very bad. There was no staff around to carry luggage to rooms or to the vehicle during checkout. No housekeeping on call. In fact there is no intercom in the rooms for communication, except to phone the owner who is anyway not available anytime. Don't expect any food for lunch or dinner except maybe breakfast if you are on a CP plan. The homestay is a good 5 km away from the town and it may get difficult to get a proper meal. There are two rooms on the 1st floor and I had chosen one of them expecting a good view but i was disappointed. It felt claustrophobic actually. No proper windows or ventilation. The toilet was broken . The owner was not available and the reception was empty during check out and it took more than 1 1/2 hours for his wife to come out and get the formalities done. Thoroughly unprofessional. The stay was not worth the amount paid. We will definitely not recommend to anybody.

We have stayed at Roots, Shoots & Beds in May 2023 (5 people, 2 rooms, ground floor). Excellent experience, especially from the fact that the owners themselves take care of the property. I look forward to visit again in the future. Pros: - The owners of this property are extremely courteous. That is the biggest plus. A few instances worth mentioning: 1. We arrived late & instead of chapatis rice was available for dinner. The owner took the pain to prepare chapatis late at night. 2. I was looking for curd, which is unavailable at the kitchen, so the owner's wife brought us curd form her adjoining home kitchen. How many people would do this in 2023? 3. One of us wanted a rose cutting & instead the owner gifted us English rose (rooted), free of cost from his garden - Calm & quite location - Few rooms, so not overcrowded - Beautiful, natural landscape garden, full of exotic plants such as Geranium & wild orchids - Good scenic beauty. At night, you can see the beautiful lights of Kalimpong - Food is good. The cook is well behaved & efficient Cons: (not too many): - Low manpower, so you will not get the service as good as hotels - The rooms can be better (cleaner, with cozy beds & amenities such as tea/coffee bags etc.) - The entrance is narrow. It is difficult to locate the property. A better gate/prominent glow sign is recommended

In this place, we went for a short family trip. It was a really nice and peaceful place. The ambiance and overall experience was extremely beautiful. The homestay is located at a very good location from where you can see the entire city. At night, if you sit on the cradle then you can see the entire city view which is actually very satisfying to watch. You will find lots of plants here as it is also a nursery. Overall this entire place makes for a really amazing experience and you can visit this place.

The aesthetic feel of this place is nice, the swing, the plants, the rooms have decent ambience. But the pricing of the rooms needs to be fixed , as the owner changes the price over time when you try to book it advanced. Also we booked two rooms with same price but one had view window and other one didn't, which we highlighted. Price of the non view room should have been less than the view room but the owner refused to agree.

Roots, shoots and Beds is truly one of the best places to stay when in Kalimpong. Literally 5stars are less for this place. As the name suggests "Homestay", the owners and other staff make you feel exactly like you're at home. They make you feel like you're the part of their own family. Sweetest people I met here. The food is also just like home. You'll get the taste of a simple non spicy, non oily food. It's not located in the heart of the town and that's what the best factor is. You'll get the experience of a completely isolated, simple, mundane village life. I didn't want to leave this place at all. I could spend my entire life here with the sweet people and amazing ambience. I'll surely visit Kalimpong again soon and this place is going to be my choice again. Keep up the good work!

If you visit Kalimpong, this is the place you want to stay. 1. Amazing ambience with flowers, lights and swing. The decorations is absolutely brilliant! 2. The food is homemade, good quality, perfect in quantity and affordable too. The view you get while eating the food is cherry on top. 3. The hosts are very helpful, friendly and very creative with their work. You feel the warmth every time you get to chat with them. Highly recommended!!!

Was wonderful getting to meet Mr. Nauraj Gurung, the Proprietor of Roots, Shoots & Beds! A Jovial Gentleman who was happy to host us for Lunch. The entire setup at Roots, Shoots & Beds is Rustic & Bohemian. Mr. Gurung's Nursery houses a varied range of Flora from the Himalayan Region. The Decor feels authentic & earthy. The Food was the absolute highlight of our experience. Homely prepared Nepalese Chicken Curry, Crispy Fried Bitter Gourd and an array of other sides and mains made for a wonderful experience. Strongly recommend to one and all!

We booked two rooms for same price on first floor. One have the view and one have no view then why same price i ain't get that. Behaviour is very good. Had a great stay. Very clean.
