This 200 year old architecture is an amazing fort created by our ancestors We can divide this whole fort in two parts- 1) The main Rajmahal - Most of it is still intact and showcasing its beauty till now. However locals come here for a picnic and throw their wastes here and there. Also the walls are full of handwritten names. One full day is required to visit all of its chambers. However, please be careful as the ceiling did not look good to me, as some of them already fell. 2) The fort wall - some people say the wall which is present on the cliff is almost 40km long. You can still see some part of it is holding the ground. Also in the vast valley guarded by these walls are having small small shiv mandirs. The view from the cliff towards the Shon river is beautiful. It took 3 long hours to reach this place due to 35km of bad uphill roads. Only large SUV cars are capable of climbing. On the top you will get a resort, food quality is very bad, however we cannot expect more than that in a remote place like this one. Bihar Govt. Should protect this architecture and build a good road.

Historical Place The Rohtasgarh or Rohtas Fort is located in the Son River valley, in the small town of Rohtas in Bihar, India. The early history of Rohtas is obscure. According to the local legends, the Rohtas hill was named after the Rohitasva, the son of a legendary king Harishchandra. However, the legends about Rohitasva make no mention of this area, and no pre-7th century ruins have been found at the site.

Rohtas Fort, a resplendent testament to architectural ingenuity and historical significance, stands proudly in northern Pakistan. Constructed by the legendary Afghan ruler Sher Shah Suri in the 16th century, this colossal fortress has withstood the ravages of time and continues to captivate visitors with its grandeur. Nestled amidst the rugged landscape, Rohtas Fort's sheer scale is awe-inspiring. Its massive sandstone walls, stretching over 4 kilometers, encircle a sprawling complex of palaces, barracks, and temples. The fort's layout exhibits a strategic genius, fortified with bastions and gateways that once guarded against invasions. As one enters through the magnificent Sohail Gate, intricate carvings and embellishments reveal the finesse of Mughal architecture. The Haveli of Maan Singh, the palace of the fort's governor, exudes an air of regality, while the awe-inspiring Baoli (stepwell) and Talaqi Gate further showcase the fort's masterful design. Rohtas Fort's historical significance as a military stronghold is palpable. It was built to suppress local tribes and deter potential Mughal attacks. Its history is steeped in legends and tales of bravery. Visitors can almost hear the echoes of past battles and the whispers of centuries-old secrets as they explore the fort's chambers and corridors. The fort's well-preserved condition, despite its age, is a testament to the enduring craftsmanship of its builders. However, like any ancient treasure, Rohtas Fort requires careful preservation and attention to maintain its splendor for future generations. For history enthusiasts and travelers alike, Rohtas Fort offers an enchanting journey into a bygone era, where the melding of architectural brilliance and historical significance create an experience that lingers long after leaving its awe-inspiring walls.

An amazing and peaceful place with breathtaking views and don't forget to go the nearby waterfalls which is a 15 minutes trek from the fort. If you are trekking to the fort then it's fine but if you are going by your own vehicle it can be time consuming as the road is not good and only professional drivers can drive there. Apart from that the fort is beautiful and free of cost entry. But as there is no one taking care of the fort it's a bit untidy. But a perfect place for a day trip.
