Rock Fort - Hindu temple in Theppakulam, Tiruchirappalli - Tiruchirappalli, India

Again happened to get one of the great sunset on the rock hill temple. The steps were huge but for the faith in the god even the old/aged people were taking it. And the view sight we get the city view it is amazing in the evenings On the way u come across 2-3 temples which are very old and big. If I were alone I would got lost. Could not figure out the entry and exit . Whether to keep track of the way/path or to witness the beauty of the temple and to know the history of the temple. The Base/ the start of the steps to the temple is fully commercialised with few of the great shops. U think and ask for it u can get it all there in few steps. Including eateries. Few of the shops ;things are sold in whole sale rate. If u r starting the family in new house it is one hop and stop lane. One can find the very traditional items from cookwares to house decor u get it all. When I remember the few of the great shops we visit will mark it here. Thanks

Its an beautiful exciting and interesting place to visit in Trichy. The temple is carved out of this ancient rock and a there is great view from the top. If you want to see the entire city Trichy then you must visit this temple.. One of the beautiful hill top temple. It has around 450 steps. It will take hardly half an hour to reach to the top.

Simply awesome temple built around 2000 years ago.. The climb of about 220 steps, some steep and some easier was well worth it. Amazingly huge Lord Pillayar, an equally huge Shivalingam and smaller Parvathy and Mahalakshmi, Lord Muruga with his two consorts, and many other different Pillayars in standing and sitting postures make this historical temple a must visit. Best to go by 5:30 -6:30 as you can avoid both the sun and can be back before dark. Some amazing views of the trichy town from top.

Excellent view of town from this cliff. To reach here take an auto who charge u 100 inr as parking of own car is risky. After reaching to foothill you need to walk 500 steps to see the fort. This has some history but more than that the sunset and view is amazing. This temple has shiva Parvati idols. Located on top of cliff is lord vinayaka. You wouldn't get anything to eat but to drink u will get all varieties of ariated drinks. One side you can see sunset. Town and beautiful gopuram of sri rangam. Enjoy, no rest rooms so watch out for .....

This is such a massive temple on the hills. Extremely mind blowing temple which such a huge stone pillars and architecture at its best, this small hill is around 400 steps, you will love the carvings and pillars as you climb up the hills. Once you reach certain point, you get two diversions, left would lead to Siva and Parvathi temple, which you would need to climb up further. Mesmerising huge temple, once would surely think of the hard work involved in making such a beautiful on topic the hill. Left diversion would lead to Ganesha temple. I hadn't clicked any photos as I left behind the mobile at the car. Vehicle needs to be parked well before reaching the temple, as it's narrow roads to the temple. Getting in there to try also is a time consuming task.

Uchi Pillaiyar temple is located on the rock fort hill. Need to climb around 500 steps to visit the pillaiyar temple. Steps are very high initially and later it is bit slippery. View from the top is very beautiful. We have Thayumanavar temple and amman temple on the way. No specific parking place and vehicles to be parked on the roadside. Roads leading to the temple is very narrow.

Arulmigu Uchi Pillaiyar Temple-- This temple, popularly known as the Rockfort temple too, is situated atop a hillock. It can be seen from far during night-time, as there were good colourful illumination around the hillock. From the lowest point to the top-- there were 418 steps. One needs to climb around 300 steps to reach the view point. Till the viewpoint, the entire stairpath is through the cave, so there is no direct sunlight/ heat to be bohred of. There is another temple named Thayumanaswami Temple around half-way of the stair-path. This temple seems to be made by cutting a cave bigger. After around 300 steps, the stair-path emerges from the cave into open, ad at that point, on left side, there is the "Pallavar Upper rockcut Caves", built during the Pallava dynasty. Sadly, hat portion seemed to be permanently locked. The view from the vewpoint and from the temple is really mesmerizing. One can see the bridges on river Kaveri, the Gopurams of the Ranganathaswamy Temple etc. from the viewpoint.
