Regional Meteorological centre Chennai is one of important India meteorological department regional centre, Which is responsible for weather observation and forecasting of southern states. They are doing good work and improving day by day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is an agency of the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India. It is the principal agency responsible for meteorological observations, weather forecasting and seismology. IMD is headquartered in Delhi and operates hundreds of observation stations across India and Antarctica. Regional offices are at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Nagpur, Guwahati and New Delhi. Chennai observatory is oldest observation station.

The weather radar information isn't available for public for last one year. Old imd staff used to be excellent at making weather information accessible to public. The new ones seem to be bench warmers. Sad to see degradation of services from such a premium institution.
The metrological center for Tamilnadu state. Weather predictions are being done here and updated to medias for public. Earlier there were no right informations from here. Now the system has been upgraded a lot and they could give much valuable predictions of weather. Located in the heart of the city.

Good place for stay. Fully Furnished with working air conditioner but poor bedding. Delicious south indian food at a very reasonable price available in canteen.
Good place at the heart of the city. The are different division of meteorological research. Also the guest house inside the campus is good. The food in the canteen is tasty and the price is reasonable.
