Reechgarh Abode Of Bears - Tourist attraction in Pachmarhi - Hoshangabad, India

Reechgarh is a huge cave hidden within the folds of the hill of Pachmarhi, which gets its name from a local legend. The myth says that once a giant bear (reech in Hindi) used to live in this cave. The climb up to the cave is covered with lush greenery, and the caves act as natural air conditioners with cool wind blowing through them. The cave has openings at both ends. Quite a few Hindi movies have been filmed at this place like Ashoka.

Reachgarh is a 15 to 20 minute Gypsy ride from Befall, once you reach there you have to walk 400 meters. The place is a beautiful example of nature worth. This place is naturally very cold like natural a.c. and you can see the beautiful view of two mountains kissing to each other to make arch the cave. This place got its name as Reachgad because Bear is called Reach in Hindi. Bears stay at this place in the forest at night. A lot of movies have also been shot here and even you can't stop yourself from shooting or photos once you are here. The cave experience is very beautiful.

A good place to spend time when you are at Pachmarhi tour. You will like to visit here. Don't expect much, It is just a passage through mountains. Abode of Bears is a good photoshoot place and picnic spot. You can visit this place with a forest ticket bought from Bison Lodge. Do UPI payment and pay as per mentioned on the ticket only. Those cashiers tries to charge double from you and ask for Cash only.

The cave experience was great. I think some movie was also shot here, not sure which one. The place is very scenic and could provide you with your next DP for sure! Plus this place won't take much long to explore as it is not a large area and not much trek is required, around 400 metres of trek is there which shouldn't ideally be called trek anyway. It's easy and you'll finsih exploring within an hour including the trek. Most people reach here by gypsies of the Pachmarhi Drivers' Union, not sure if you can take your own vehicle as for most places, you need to obtain permit from the forest department as almost all of the tourist spots in Pachmarhi are inside the Satpura Tiger Reserve area.

Very unique place. I have not seen any of this kind in Madhya Pradesh. Must visit in Pachmarhi. You need to climb up and down a little and there is no pathway constructed so it would be difficult for young kids and elderly people.

Beautiful place. Amazing natural rock caves. Inside cave temperature is low so it's amazing to site and spend some time. You can reach here either by trekking 15-20 min or gypsy will directly drop you at doorstep.

Reechgarh in Pachmarhi is a beautiful place to visit. After a small tracking of 400 meter, you will reach to this place. Reechgarh is basically the natural caves in Pachmarhi hill station. And since, this falls under the tiger reserve area, you need to take the rented taxi. Shooting of a few movies were also done here. One time visit place for nature and photography lovers.

Presence of bear in this caves in ancient time saw by tribal communitis , so they called it reechhgarh. Very large hills make grand caves , it is the miracle of nature and nothing more...
