Kalchuri ruler Ratnadev I established Ratanpur city in 1050 AD and made it his capital. Ratanpur, the ancient capital of Chhattisgarh, has a glorious history, the remains of which are located in Ratanpur, here major places like Gaj Fort, Rajmahal, pond next to the fort are worth visiting.

Easy accessibility. Located on way to Bilaspur- Korba bus route. Buses are available frequently.
While there is not much left of the fort, it is a large complex which has well paved walk way to spend a nice time with friends or family.
There are remains of the royal hamam ( bath place), 4 gates to the fort, few dilapidated buildings and three temples of which two are still active. The entry is free. The place has potential to be developed into more attractive tourist spot.
Place is very ancient n historical. U can see the old style of designs here. Well cleaned n managed. Garden is also nice.
